A MOTHER!

Who helps to cheer the daily round?
A Mother!
Or smoothes our cares when they abound?
A Mother!
Who makes the home a haven sweet
With love and comradeship complete?
Where turn each night the eager feet?
A Mother!

Who softly croons a cradle song?
A Mother!
Or soothes her babe the whole night long?
A Mother!
Who tends with such unwearied care
Her household, and her children,...

THE NATION’S GREATEST NEED
“Women can give up their jobs as clerks, engineers, doctors, etc., and other people will step in, and the world will go as smoothly as before . . . not so with mothering. When we leave this job, the world does not go on as before. It falters and begins to lose way.”

A WOMAN OF KINDNESS
Proverbs 31:26 gives another definition of a woman: “In her tongue is the law of kindness.” Kindness personifies a woman. That’s a challenge, isn’t it? For when we resort to our fleshly ways, we lose the anointing of kindness. The Hebrew word is “chesed” which is one of the most wonderful revelations of God in the entire Bible. It’s closely related to “grace” in the New...

WOMEN ARE EXALTED
You notice that I am sharing descriptions in God’s Word about women. God’s Word also pictures the career of motherhood to be higher than every other career.

In Ezekiel chapter 19 we read an allegory. God talks about the tribe of Judah and likens her to a mother. As we read this passage, we understand God’s value of motherhood. Ezekiel 19:10, 11: “Thy mother is like a vine...

A WOMAN OF STRENGTH
I amazed by the descriptions about women in the Bible. If you want to feel good about being woman, read God’s Word. God lifts women to a high status. We haven’t yet mentioned the other description in Proverbs 31:25 which says she is a woman of strength: "Strength and honor are her clothing" (Check the two posts below).

Two different words are used to describe a woman’s...

THE GLORY OF WOMEN
Yesterday we talked about a woman of honor and dignity. God has more to say about women.

Proverbs 11:16 says: “A gracious woman retains honor.” The word “honor” in this Scripture is a different Hebrew word than in Proverbs 31:25. Some modern translations say that she earns respect, but the word “respect” is not strong enough. It means “weight (don’t despair: it doesn’t...

A WOMAN OF DIGNITY
Most translations of Proverbs 31:25 use the word “dignity.”

What does it mean to have dignity? The dictionary tells us it is the quality of being worthy of respect and honor. Having a high sense of propriety, truth, and justice. Moral correctness. Elevated deportment of manners and behavior. It also means an elevated office, an honorable or high rank, a degree of...

Lift up the name of Jesus as you face your battles. Lift up the name of Jesus in your home. No demon power can stand at the name of Jesus. "At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father" (Philippians 2:10, 11).

EXTRAVAGANTLY THANKFUL
Would the word “thankfulness” describe you and your family? I don’t believe we can be too thankful. Firstly, to God for His wonderful salvation given to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. None of us will ever be able to fathom that enormity of His grace to each one of us. The fact that He, who lived in the glory of eternity, was willing to not only become a man and die,...

MESSAGE FOR READERS IN NEW ZEALAND AND AUSTRALIA

Dear Above Rubies readers in New Zealand and Australia,

ANY MIXTURE IN YOUR HOME?
In my post NO LOOP HOLE, posted below, I shared with you an important word that God wants proclaimed and broadcast to the to the ends of the earth. Do you remember what it was? We find it in Isaiah 48:20 (CEB): “Go out from Babylon; flee from the Chaldeans! REPORT this with a loud shout, PROCLAIM it; BROADCAST it to the end of the earth. SAY, ‘The LORD has redeemed...

NO LOOP HOLE
I often hear people say that they like to keep their faith personal. They don’t like to talk about it. However, that is not biblical. Did you realize that our Christianity is a confession? 1 Timothy 6;12; (Hebrews 4;14; and 10:23).

We are born again into God’s family by believing and confessing. Romans 10:9, 10 says: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and...

THE SCENT OF SUGAR ICING
Here is a picture of Winterbourne Henri Snell on his first birthday and the poem his mother wrote for him on that day.

I woke with your smooth small face
warming in my bosom.

You smiled, delighted
at your position,
then struck me
when milk was not
immediate.

Once well drunk,
you smiled again
and looked fatly
at the silver butterflies
swirling in circles above the...
