The Saints got away to a strong start, but Port Adelaide Football Club took it down to the wire as both clubs showed encouraging signs at times.

Such pathetic comments from those who dont like Port, quite sad really.
Losing by a point in a pointless game, news flash idiots, half the teams that play will lose their first game for the year!

You have to be kidding Nathan. Look at who had the advantage of the frees in the last quarter including the deliberate out of bounds by Victoria. I have watched footy for a long long time and don't tell me all things are equal in the AFL.

remember when crowds used to show up to the pre-season cup?
By the way AFL did I hear Caroline Wilson say someone from the AFL say something bad about Port Adelaide tonight on 5AA. Do we have to question who in the AFL are equal to all teams or who are Victorian centric? I ask you? We cannot have someone who is for all of the AFL being unfair to all teams surely???
Oh my AFL hiding my posts? What about the St Kilda deliberate kick out of bounds just then. Wasn't Port penalised by this rule earlier? Consistency is all we ask in football??

Well played AFL 😂
Publicly pin something this pathetically minor on the Swans to make the GF's umpiring not look like the biggest fail of the finals 👏🏼👏🏼

20k on top of the umps preventing a premiership is the full punishment then

What do you think the Crows need to do to take that extra step forward? You must no doubt be frustrated at falling at the semi-final stage two years running.

People that think Richmond will receive 2 first round picks for Martin are kidding themselves number 1 Richmond would have to match a bid in excess of a million more likely which they wouldn't have the space to do so anyway and if hawthorn didn't get 2 first rounders for buddy use definitely ain't getting 2 for martin
today at 04:17
I can't help but laugh at the fact his manager got in his ear and tried to tell him he was a million dollar a year player. He tried to shop himself around, to no interest and went back to Richmond with his tail between his legs and accepted their initial offer.
Well, with a midfield core that now comprises Cotchin, prestia, caddy, miles, vlastulin, and with a few potential young guns coming through its not dire straights if he goes or stays. Best if he did stay but if he goes 2 first round draft picks plus the 2 that the tigers already have on hand put them in a good position either way. 1 player does not make a premiership side.

Hurn needs to step up. Not in the way he plays but the way he leads as captain. To me its like he is captain just because he is one of the old crew. Just my opinion.

Eagles awsm side need to start playin young guns Tommy Cole Matt Allen they got awsm bodies hot girlfriends robbed of opportunities last year simmo needs to settle down when they win games too especially against gws when he carried on like a pork chop Kennedy is past his prime they should play Allen full forward and shuey washed up

Don't know why he's such a maligned player. He's no superstar but averaging 5-6 marks and 1-2 goals a game, isn't bad going imo.
This bloke can play forward, mid and defensively. Sad to see him go to the Magpies. Unfortunately, the Dockers needed some youth development and the magpies needed some experience to counter their young side. It is all football ... and it's all good.

Won't matter how good our list is if the game plan is still to kick the ball sideways and backwards.
Let's hope the coaching staff have learnt something over the last 12 months.
Get the pill down to Jack fast- who shouldn't move outside the forward 50.

Easy to make an example of Frost. Wait to see what happens when a player in Brownlow contention is involved.
The only message here is, if you're the average player, the AFL will be hard on you. But if you are a golden child or a in Brownlow contention the AFL will look the other way and ignore it.
I cant agree, the tackle was strong and forceful as you are taught as a child in under 10's. What you will be left with is poor tackling technique and players breaking tackles and getting the ball free. If Frost laid a weak tackle for fear of hurting the ball carrier he could have easily got free and passed off for a shot on goal.

Nothing more exciting than the thud of the ball being bounce and roar of the crowd. Might improve the game minimally but kill the atmosphere majorly.
02/21/2017 at 09:20
The bounce is part of the game, leave what's left of it alone!! U have already killed the bump and holding the ball
02/21/2017 at 09:23
Here's an idea AFL, maybe it will help.
How about don't, DON'T touch the rules for a bit. See if they can get the new changes right first?
Maybe finish this chocolate bar BEFORE you open another one.

Everyone loves exciting, entertaining football. The Bulldogs brought it last year, along with GWS. We definitely had it in 2014. Belief and confidence shows. You gain respect and become the talking point. What are we bringing in 2017 ?
02/21/2017 at 08:48
Hi Ken, how much impact do you think Paddy Ryder will make to the Ruck/Forward structure this year? How will the abolishment of the third-man-up affect your rucks this year?
