The only steam locomotive built in Britain in the 21st century is travelling from London to Penzance today. This was the "Tornado" as she went through Exeter earlier today. She entered main line service in 2008. But today is the first time she is crossing the Tamar into Cornwall. She will be spending a week at the Bodmin And Wenford Railway carrying passengers for the first few days of June.

The rain held off for the re-enactment of Sir Francis Chichester's return to Plymouth, 50 years after his solo round the world trip. Escorted by a flotilla and met with a flypast, his son Giles was on board Gipsy Moth IV today, wearing the very same sweater his father wore when he sailed home in 1967.
