Igor Malinovskii, with four penalties won his second Gold medal in two days, claiming the Junior Men’s pursuit this morning at the IBU YJWCH. His 32:39.8 time was 13 seconds ahead of Silver medalist Sindre Pettersen of Norway, with five penalties. Pettersen was pretty happy with this Silver to g with his Gold from the individual.

Clean-shooting Michela Carrara of Italy won the afternoon Junior Women’s Sprint Gold medal in 20:57.8, giving Italy its second sprint Gold. Carrara’s teammate Irene Lardschneider won the Youth title yesterday. Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold of Norway, with one penalty won the Silver medal, 15.2 seconds back. The Bronze medal went to Myrtille Begue of France, also shooting clean, 31.5 seconds back.

2016 IBU Youth Sprint World Champion Igor Malinovskii of Russia shot clean on a breezy morning to become the 2017 IBU Junior Sprint Gold medalist today. Malinovskii covered the 10K course in 24:2.2, 12.2 seconds ahead of teammate Silver medalist Kirill Streltsov, also shooting clean. Italy’s Irene Lardschneider, with one penalty literally overwhelmed her rivals in the Youth Women’s 6K sprint, winning the Gold medal in 19:48.3, finishing more than minute ahead of the field. 16-year-old Anna Gandler won the Silver medal and Samuela Comola of Italy won the Bronze medal. 2016 Youth Olympic Sprint Gold medalist Emilien Claude of France won both the battle with the strong winds and the Gold medal in the Youth Men’s 7.5K sprint today at the IBU Youth Junior World Championships. Norway’s Sindre Pettersen, despite two last-stage penalties, took the lead in the Junior Men’s 15K individual today after the first prone stage and never relinquished it on his way to the Gold medal in 40:17.2. Pettersen was, in another life a Nordic Combined athlete and competed in the Junior WCH, but today he was pretty happy about changing to biathlon! #YJWCH17
