A look ahead to the three days of competition this week: sprints on Friday, pursuits on Saturday and the first regular relays of the season on Sunday. Martin and Laura are in Yellow, but expect some good shooting and heated battles for the podium in what should be favorable conditions all weekend.

Anton Babikov wins Ostersund pursuit for his first-ever career victory with teammate Maxim Tsvetkov in second. Martin Fourcade finished third. Babikov had one penalty, while Tsvetkov shot clean; Fourcade had two prone and two standing penalties.

Gabriela Koukalova held off Laura Dahlmeier for her first win of the new season, winning the women's pursuit in 31:43.3 with a single penalty. Dahlmeier had two penalties Dorothea Wierer, shooting clean came from 19th at the start to finish third.

Marie Dorin Habert shoots clean to take her first win of the new season in 20:09.7, while Kaisa Mäkäräinen had a single penalty in second, 11.4 seconds back. Gabriela Koukalová matched Dorin Habert but finished third, 19.9 seconds back. Laura Dahlmeier, wearing the Yellow Bib finished fourth.

The obvious favorites for the sprint/pursuit combo this weekend are Laura and Martin but others will challenge. FYI, Martin has won twice at Ostersund in every season that he has won the World Cup Total Score. With one win already, he could be headed for another big Crystal Globe if he has a good weekend.
