This guy is good, no sarcasm. All business, he will make clay and O'Leary good tight end and be accountable. As you see, McDermott is taking in no bs coaches. Much needed

Look at all of these football gurus. Since all of you know more about football than anyone in the Bills organization, why don't you have a job in the NFL???

These things are great about our new coach and I really hope he is the right one and is here for many successful years, but you could do this same thing with any coach to ever coach in the NFL. I guarantee there is tape or articles of people saying " this guy is special" or "this guy is going to be great" on some of the worst coaches in history. Find a good QB and the coach won't even matter as much.
Great article. And if truth be told, both West Point and W&M have many similarities. Age of founding, honor system, student-athletes, selective university, small student body, semi-rural campus, etc. West Point's loss was W&M's gain.

Former 49ers coach once said that Rick Mirer was the next Joe Montana. How well did that prediction turn out? Not saying that Sean McDermott will be another failure in Buffalo, but until the Bills actually win games and end the playoff drought with him, I'm not buying into any hype.

He needs to retire or go to another team. You can't waste a roster spot for him because he will get knocked out for the season again and we will be trying to pick someone up again. Besides that even when healthy he is just a mediocre safety anyway. That's to violent of a position to play with those injuries.
love this guy. i wish he would retire for his own safety and his loved ones. he made good money, i want him to enjoy it and form a new career. but it must be hard when you love doing a sport, and would miss being competitive and part of a team sport. plus all the pageantry and accolades that come with it....think it over Aaron, again and again.

Saw him on "hard knocks" last season and dude's a total hardass. Exactly what we need to put Dareus in his place.
01/16/2017 at 21:15
Dude is a nut, I feel like this might be the defense we've all been wanting in the 2017 season. These coaches might put it together very quickly if the players listen and do their job.
01/16/2017 at 21:19
Definitely looking like the culture change this teams needed. We have all the right pieces to be a winning team, hopefully this is the leaders we've really been searching for!

Olson has been out of a job since being fired by the Jaguars in October, after spending just over a year as their offensive coordinator. He had previously served as an offensive coordinator with Detroit, St. Louis, Tampa Bay and Oakland.
That's quite a resumé. No thanks.

i never realized there were so many NFL professionals ( or even football professionals at all) here on Facebook... specifically on the Buffalo Bills page. Maybe the Pegulas should just look here to fill positions
01/16/2017 at 17:12
Hopefully Childress gets the job. He was great help for Donovan McNabb as a developing QB and led the Vikings through a tough schedule to get the NFC North title but lost in the first round of playoffs.

You guys are over doing this a little. Yes I'm glad he is our coach and and im looking forward to next season, but you're building up too much hype just as you did with Rex and you know how that crap show went.

Pretty cool to see the behind the scenes video of the facility. Everything looks amazing and top notch.

Near the end of this vignette he shakes Jim Kelly's hand and says; " I was hoping you'd be here."
He turns to Thurman Thomas and offers congratulations on his career. Powerful?!
Best of luck coach.

People people give the man a chance. I know that the playoff drought being old enough to drive a car is frustrating and obviously nobody in their right mind is saying "playoffs are a done deal" because of this but at least give him a few games before saying he can't hack it.

Welcome to Buffalo Coach McDermott and family. Excuse me for first being a skeptic when I heard of your hiring. One press conference and only seconds into it you won my allegiance over by thanking our Lord for your blessings in life. That's something
That we don't have enough of in this world! From that point
on, I knew you were the man for this job. Good luck and may God Bless you on your journey here in Buffalo and remember that "the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step"

Welcome to Buffalo, coach! As a fan of both the Buffalo Bills and the Carolina Panthers, I appreciate the work that you did down in Charlotte and look forward to seeing you take that next step and having success in Western New York!

I have been a Bills fan all my life and I welcome Sean and his family to Buffalo. This is a great place to raise a family! The fans will be behind you and we know you want to win as much as we do! Be a coach like the fans, hard working and proud!

Loved OJ when I was a kid, Joe Furgeson, Jim Kelly, Doug Flutie, Bruce Smith, Daryl Talley, Marv & now the McDermott era . Let's go Bills!!

Y'all got one helluva Coach in Sean! Gonna miss him in Carolina. Hopefully he turns it around for the Bills. Congrats Coach McDermott!
01/15/2017 at 04:15
Sorry Sean you are set up to fail in buffalo. I'm done drinking the koolaid that Buffalo cares about the front end. Pegulas need to bring in someone to run both their teams and step back and let them make the choices. Love them for what they did, but they don't know how to run a sports team.

This guy knows he doesn't need to talk the talk. Until he can get to the players and start getting to work, none of the talk matters. Give him a chance to do his job, and make the players do theirs. Welcome coach! Go Bills!
01/14/2017 at 19:53
We just had a guy that had great sound bites and he was mediocre at best. Complaining about a guy not sounding excited is ridiculous. Maybe he is simply not comfortable speaking in front of large crowds. All that matters is his ability to coach football.
01/14/2017 at 21:35
He sounds professional and straight forward. I think that is an admirable quality we need in a head coach. Get these guys playing consistent ball and work from there.

This guy is basically the opposite of Rex. Rex was like the super caffeine-filled coffeee which felt good for a couple of hours, but still left you looking for more. McDermott is like an herbal tea, something, that will start you off on your day on a mellow yet strong note. It'll be a nice change of scenery. I loved watching his press conference.
01/14/2017 at 17:40
Bills fans need to just relax and give this guy a chance. I'm looking forward to seeing what a 0-0 record for a head coach can do with a talented roster. Just like Aaron Rodgers said r-e-l-a-x people
01/14/2017 at 23:45
Buffalo bills trying to hype all their fans up again to suck them in for another season!! How lowering ticket prices and your outrageous concession prices to show a little appreciation to your fans?!!! Probably won't get a response for the Bills on this one!!!!

" I was hoping you were gonna be here " to Kelly is classy as hell.
I didn't want to see the Bills bring another retread, Norv Turner type. Young and hungry is fine with me. I'm pretty excited about the hire.

This is kind of getting ridiculous. Will we be watching their first bathroom visit after their first meal too? I am not comparing McDermott to Rex at all, but the Bills are doing the exact same things they did when Rex got here. Ooo look! Rex is getting off the plane! Ooo look! Rex is having a beer at a bar! Welcome Coach. I think we have welcomed him ad naseum. This is one of the things about the Bills that drives me crazy. Stop already. Enough.

I think this was a great pick up. I love what he has to say and his no nonsense mentality. This man will get our beloved team where it needs to be. It may not be next year but my gut says this is the man to do it. Let's go Bills! Now let's get some good coordinators and draft well this year.
01/14/2017 at 03:37
I like what I hear. Measured responses. No bombastic guarantees. Hopefully this is the start of the continuity the Bills so desperately need.

As a Panthers fan, I hated to see him go.. but happy for him to get a HC job. Hope y'all like him as much as we do in the Carolinas!

If they don't keep Tyrod, they better not get another EJ, or JP Losman, or Rob Johnson. Tyrods the best QB to wear the Bills uniform since Doug Flutie was benched in their last playoff game
01/14/2017 at 00:03
Yeah that sounds like he's looking for a new QB... you know one that's actually good for more than a few games here and there
01/14/2017 at 01:18
Leave Whaley alone, it's not like it's been all bad. I don't understand all the hate. If these guys can get and stay healthy, he put together a decent roster. There's plenty of talent on this team with more to come.

Sean MacDermott, as a young rebel, helped to lead the Irish to eventual independence from The British in the 1916 Easter rising.
I am confidant that 101 years later his "namesake " can lead the Buffalo Bills first to the playoffs and then to a Super Bowl win. 🍀🏈🙏🏆. Go Bills!

I enjoy being the sports fan with hope. Call it what you want but, at some point it gets nauseating just being critical. I love my Buffalo Bills! I'm not going to pretend I know everything and just be critical for the sake of being critical. I am in support of this hire and I hope this is the turn around.
01/13/2017 at 23:35
You know, we hear this every time we hire a coach. Can we hear something different for a change. I don't know. Like the famous saying from the Turtles Movie 'Pizza Dudes' got 30 Seconds'. That's how interesting it is to hear a new coach say he's going to bring a win to Buffalo. I for one, am just tired of hearing the same ol, same ol. And then the same ol, same ol always happens; we lose.
01/13/2017 at 23:51
I guess it doesn't really matter in a sense because no matter what they do the "I'm over it" and "who cares" crowd always seems to find a way to be on the negative side of things. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you are so sick and tired of the Bills then why don't you just unfollow the team plain and simple
