Tkachuk is one of my favourite players along with Monahan. But I do think his game changed in the playoffs after the first game. He plays hard which draws a lot of penalties and after the first game they were told to stay out of the box. I'm sure that messed with his head and he didn't exactly play to the same extent he usually does. This is what I seen anyway.

We are looking at our future captain. This kid has grit, skill and hockey smarts.
Give him a few years and he will be a big time leader.

But not impactful enough to raise enough funds to bring the cup to Canada. No one is. NHL gets more money when Americans win.

Matthew you did amazingly with us this year. You are an all around player who fits so well with our Flames. What's not to love? You are like your Dad, only better....all around Flame. Loving your playmaking...See you next year young man.

despite all the critics out there he did improve the special teams. Powerplay and penalty killing was much better this year this is a fact. pulling the goalie for the extra attacker was used sparingly as it should be its always a bad gamble.

It was a roller coaster of a season and disappointing playoffs, but if this team is as close as the coaches, players and GM feel I would expect this team to look fairly similar to this season minus Wideman, Stagen, Chaisson, Bartkowski, and possibly Bouma. I think we need to look at Nashville and how little turnover they have in Management and coaches. If players have to learn a new system every 2-3 years how can a team build any consistentcy? Have a great off season boys and train hard!! GO🔥🔥🔥GO!!
04/22/2017 at 19:14
He has no business coaching this team. He doesn't know how to adjust lines on the fly. He doesn't know when to use a timeout. And why he continues house guys like chiasson on the top line is beyond me. I know he's not going anywhere, but he's in way over his head with an nhl team.

Fans be all like. "We've heard that before." Probably yes, you have. From an entirely different team. We've had this team for 3 years. 2, they've gotten into the playoffs. They are young, but as they gain experience they will be the top team in the league.
04/22/2017 at 17:36
If tkachuk gets better at skating and develops abit more, Bennett finds consistency for his scoring (his speed and edgy play are spot on 👌), and gaudreau gains another 10 pounds so he don't get pushed off the puck so easily, and the team find a legit starting goalie to rely on this team will be at the top, and all of those things are realistic and close to happening
04/22/2017 at 18:51
It's weird but Lazar's interview had me more pumped than anything... And normally I stick to the core guys. But we got a good group of guys.... I mainly wonder about goaltending. Elliot is good but between softies and bad puck luck... Then the pull... That's a rough bounce back. I still think he's a starter, but who knows if it's for the flames.

Go kill it Johnny, some of these fans don't realize how lucky we are that you are on our team, still put up 61 points in a year where people said it was a "down" year. He's gonna bounce back next year, good luck Johnny Hockey
04/22/2017 at 14:34
Hopefully he plays well and shakes off whatever monkey was on his back during the Flames' short playoff run. I thought he was injured because he seemed so tentative. Would've liked to have seen the other guys play too, hopefully they heal up soon.
04/22/2017 at 14:58
I am with Francis... All invitees should, beyond the honor of repping your country (because no player, manager or Bettman is bigger than the game), it's great practice... And who doesn't need that!!??

Love this team and hope they ink Versteeg, 2 more years and these kids will be on stoppable !!
This year these kids were cocky and playing with too much box time, once that settles down look out!
04/22/2017 at 03:44
The fact that Gaudreau isn't on this list makes me sad. I figured his lack of shots/goals was because of the unhealed nagging injury from 2016.

Bishop, with Gillies backing him up. Make it happen Tre.

Yes oilers are doing better. But the flames don't have 7 first overall picks in last ten years. We have never had one In history
04/21/2017 at 21:46
I'm not saying Elliot hasn't let in stinkers but Elliot put us in a position to win the first 3 games, it was the team that let him down... Even Gibson got pulled in game 3 for bad play...
04/21/2017 at 21:47
Resign Elliott.. Gillies as back up next year. Do not sign bishop he will be asking for too much. Gotta generate from within. Parsons and Gillies will be our future between the pipes.

Loved Engelland's game this year!!! Thought he played his best hockey since we signed him three years ago. (IIRC)
Love the grit he brings and we definitely need guys who can play and fight when needed.
He also scored some beauty goals this year too!
BRING ENGELLAND BACK!

If he doesn't get picked up by the knights would love to have him back. He's not only consistent but he is a major pest control and keeps people in line.... unless it's Iggy lol

Overall he was one our best D men. He played solid D and step up to any battle he was involved in. Awesome!!

This kid is 19??? Sounds like a grizzled vet with his great attitude and maturity. His head is on his shoulders. I love that Burke knows he is adding 10 lb this summer, despite how hard it is to do that in 5 months. He will be a walking buzz saw at that point.
04/22/2017 at 02:50
Chucky is going to be a real superstar. When you look at him, Johnny, Mony, Benny and Ferly I think the future of the Flames looks very bright!

You are all idiots. The guy got 60+ points after he missed 10 games. Yeah it was a slower season for him but he still produced stellar numbers and topped our team in points. Don't bash someone when you don't look at the results.
04/21/2017 at 20:48
Don't know why our highest scorer is suddenly getting crapped on by our fanbase. Get off the bandwagon and go complain to the Oilers. This guy is a fantastic player and you're all insane if you think we should get rid of him.
04/21/2017 at 21:22
Look I've been there all season. Yes it's disappointing but really we are still rebuilding . I'd say in the next two years you will see Canadian teams dominating the NHL. But most of all Calgary Flames 🔥 will have a team for many years. So make sure the cabinet is clean and ready for 2 cups in the next 5 years. Go flames go .

Our potential was better with brouwer not in the line up...bit wayyy to hard on this go for to much and to long ...only one of the very few bad decision i can say trei has made
04/22/2017 at 05:56
It was his first year of this contract. Whether he's around or not. He can certainly improve and his track record says he can have a better season next year. Thanks Troy!

true flames absolutely never forgot Dennis Wideman. Best of luck with all these troubles. Playoffs yes 4 extra bonus games on the regular year. And the regular season fantastic entertainment

The Flames coaching staff set the bar .... when they started Elliott in game 4 it was a clear message to not only the fans but the players as a whole ..... that coaching and management message was boys medicore is acceptable.... PATHETIC!!!
04/22/2017 at 15:17
Flames did great this year... I like a lot of the players and the future looks bright. But, they were'nt "right there" a little more work. (from Albertan who cheers for both teams!)

If the flames had actual decent goaltending you would be still talking about up coming games this year, instead of now having to focus on next year!! Not quite sure if Elliot could have even stopped a beach all in the playoffs
04/21/2017 at 22:03
You were better before the playoffs started. What happened. It'll be the same BS next year if there aren't some big changes starting at the top.

Ferland has improved his hockey skills this year, he is getting better, with good coaching he will develop more as a skilled hockey player, Flames are fortunate to have him. Looking forward to watching him next year.
04/21/2017 at 18:32
Last season they said the same thing about this season. If you're not gonna start the season on a positive outcome and keep it consistent, you'll be repeating the same scrambling game you do every year.
04/21/2017 at 18:23
He needs to get his game back, I think he would of been way more effective as a third or fourth line heavy hitter like he was against Vancouver last playoffs

People need to get off Dougie... he's done a hell of a lot of good things for the flames this year... way more good than bad AND nobody is perfect.
That idiot that made the inappropriate comments on the air is a complete moron... must've been drunk... sure the ducks got a power play goal but come on... that was an intended pass that was redirected by Bouma. It could've happened to anyone, anytime.
04/21/2017 at 19:58
He should stop tripping people and start becoming a more physical defensive presence and he would kill it. He can already score. Maybe stop those high shots at the glass that rim around and head back the other way too lol
04/21/2017 at 18:44
Bad passes causing too many icing calls. Bad passes in offensive zone going point to point which is inexcuseable.
Out of position defensively constantly which causes him to take poor penalties and way too soft.

3 pts in 4 regular season games and he's a potential long term fix for one of our biggest needs depth-wise. I think we may have gotten a steal with this kid.

Should've used him right from the get go with Ducks...I think he would've contributed more than Stajan or Chiasson or Bouma.

Engelland deserves way more credit. Dude was a beast for us all year. I hope we can get him re-signed.
Let him walk. I love him but we need to get younger and with Gio, Brodie and Hamilton signed long term and Bartkowski signed we need to give up some spots to Stockton. These prospects are going to get better without NHL seasoning.
