UPDATE: Calgary Humane Society's Continuing Efforts to Prevent The Spread of Canine Parvovirus.

We have had questions in regards to our two recent cases of parvovirus.
To be clear we closed our shelter and did a deep clean as a precaution to protect our animals and the public. We hope to re-open the shelter in the next few days.

Calgary Humane Society is CLOSED effective immediately due to positive Canine Parvo Virus. This is a highly contagious disease, therefore we are taking all necessary precautions to protect our animal population. We thank you for your understanding.

It's Volunteer Appreciation week. Our Volunteers and Foster parents are truly the best! Last year alone they contributed 20,345 hours of their valuable time and took in 1,075 foster animals. Without them we would not be able to help as many animals as we can. Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make our Adoption Event a huge success! We were able to find homes for 22 dogs during our three day event, and homes for an additional 41 animals last week - YAY!

Highlights Include: Raven, Stell+Trixie and Baxter the cats, Mowat, Tacoma + Timber, Barney and Kingsley the dogs, Skittles the guinea pig, Alex the gecko and Nicky the snake.

We have had many people ask for more information about the 88 dogs we brought in from Alberta SPCA a few weeks ago. Short answer: the dogs are doing pretty well but we still have some work to do.
