"In order to generate this macro shot, I used natural sunlight to my advantage as it brought out the contrast in the sunflower. I used my regular EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II lens and estimated the distance such that the subject was approximately 30 cm away to ensure that I was in the closest focusing distance. The bees were so engrossed in retrieving nectar that it was a breeze to...

"This shot of a girl in the traditional wedding dress, was actually an 'accident', taken as a test shot in my studio. I used a 4x6 inch Plexiglas and a flashlight to create the light trails. I realised that it's always good to learn from your mistakes. I find that to be the best way to grow as a beginner. Right now I'm playing around with light painting to try and push the boundaries of my...

"Early in the morning, it was less crowded and the water in the fountain was still. It created a nice reflection of the Taj Mahal. This was a tough shot to take because I was just using a kit lens yet I wanted the reflection to fill the entire frame. I had to reach out to edge of the fountain to take this pic, but the harder it is to achieve a shot, the more it is worth while."

"While traveling through Sapa, Vietnam, I sought to explore the small village of Xa Pho, housing the smallest minority group within the country. After an hour and a half by motorbike, on slippery red clay roads, we arrived at our destination. We scoured the village and came across an elderly woman peeking out of her bamboo-thatched house. I quickly greeted her and we were invited in. Looking...

“We missed the early morning light but it was a blessing in disguise because it turned out to be the prefect time to capture the atmosphere in Kolkata Flower Market, underneath Howrah Bridge in India. It's a very frantic environment, crowded and chaotic with people moving everywhere – quite a shock to the senses. It may be overwhelming, but if you're patient you'll find some really nice...

“I would usually rent a motorbike, explore the area, and meet new people. Most of the time I stay with the locals and sometimes, I cook for them. To me, that is the best way to experience a country. These shots were taken in Myanmar while I was on a tour of Southeast Asia from the Philippines down to Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and finally Singapore.”

"On this peaceful Red River, the main river flowing through the city of Hanoi, this small fishing boat was passing by slowly right under the Long Bien bridge. Beneath the surface of the turquoise water, green moss could be seen, creating an interesting texture below the boat."

"As one of the most iconic structures in Singapore, the Buddha Tooth Relic is frequently captured beautifully by lots of photographers. I wanted to capture a different perspective so I ventured into the temple to see if there were any photo opportunities. It was a bright and sunny day so the contrast of the sky against the interior of the building was too strong, thus I used bracketed...
