Pitching has looked a lot better over the past few weeks. It feels like they're coming out of this season long funk, I hope that's true.

Lester hasn't beaten Boston yet, the team where he broke out playing with. Funny enough, Jake Arrieta has yet to beat the Cubs - the team he broke in the league with. But has beaten all 29 other teams. Yes I know he played with Baltimore before Chicago....😑

No problem, Jon Lester and the Cubs will beat the Boston Red Sox in this year's World Series.

Great job by Jon Lester in settling down after allowing a 3-run homer to Realmuto in the first inning.
The Cubs chipped away and eventually took the lead for good on a Báez 2-run double in the 6th.
Willson Contreras gunning down the speedy Dee Gordon trying to steal third base was awesome.
Wade Davis was lights out in the 9th inning.

W! A win tomorrow take 3 out of 4 in Miami. Really loved the small ball today. Happ laying down that bunt moving Russell to second led to Baez's base hit scoring Russell from 2nd. Then followed by Almora RBI double. The hitting the ball the opposite way has really paid off today. Same formula in the 6th led to a 5-3 lead, never looking back. Great work Lester! Good team game offensively and in the field today. Cubs win! Cubs win! Holy Cow!
06/24/2017 at 23:22
Great win today!!! Hitting was good and pitching great. If the Cubs win tomorrow now we're talking!!!
(Bryant looked weird on 1B in top of being a righty)

Hope the lineup works. We are almost half way through the season and We have a different lineup everyday. Seems like consistency might help. I get it the guys need rest, but they really should settle on a regular lineup, and forget who's feelings get hurt.
06/24/2017 at 16:39
We will be at the game a few rows up from 1st base...and if course no Rizzo. Well, still fun to see KB play it. 4 Cubs fans leaving for the game in a little bit! GO CUBS!!!
06/24/2017 at 16:40
Hopefully the score some runs with this lineup because they are doing it again. Winning a game with huge offensive outburst, then having their bats go totally dead for the next couple of games. They can't stay consistent.

Despite a rough night at the plate last night I'm glad Maddon decided to keep Almora Jr. in the lineup again. The kid just needs more at bats. He'll come around. Go cubs!
06/23/2017 at 20:14
You guys complain too much about lineups. They are all Cubs and all have positives they offer at plate and on defense. It takes all of them to do their roles to excel. Baseball is a game of matchups... it is also a game of rest, 162 games is a LONG season.
Yesterday half of you were saying send Russell to minors too... he had 4 hits last night. Just chill and enjoy the season!
06/23/2017 at 19:32
This is the game they have lost basically all season. Just when you think they are turning the corner, they flop. Hopefully they get it rolling!

I really like him. He is a nice, humble guy, and one heck of a pitcher! I will never forget him walking around with the W flag behind him with such joy on his face after they won the WS!
06/23/2017 at 20:55
🎉 love this guy! You're going to do some great things as big pitcher for the Cubs and your career is just starting! Don't forget your community and where you came from to keep yourself humble! Make news by being a great baseball pitcher and not off the field mistakes! You're fun to watch! Keep Dancing Carl Edwards Jr. 💙⚾❤

I've liked him since he came up! Always seemed like a humble guy who was just loving being there. And he's shown he deserves to be there!!

Ryne Sandberg has always been my favorite Cub and I think Anthony Rizzo is his clone! Love both their attitudes and how they represent themselves and the Cubs. Go Cubbies!
06/23/2017 at 14:24
The reason I understand the rivalry. The day I first understood the pride of the north side. The day I fell in love with the Cubs. And this game is the reason Ryne Sandberg is and always will be my favorite Chicago Cub.
(with a tip of the cap to Andre Dawson). I was nine years old watching this on tv and my only frame of reference was my own little league baseball team at Welles Park Chicago Park District, The Cubs.

Great to see the bats hot and Arrieta look more like well Arrieta! We could be there at the end with another starter and possibly another solid arm in the pen. I hope Kyle (both of them get straight soon) and Schwarber I feel could bring us a good pitcher if he does! The Cubs would not have won the series without him but remember all the games he played were AL ruled games in Cleveland! He would benefit from playing in the American League and we could sure use Chris Archer!
06/23/2017 at 13:02
With all the runs we got, and the history so far this year, our next game we will score maybe 3-4 RUNS(Thanks Carlos Ramirez). I hope I am wrong.
06/23/2017 at 17:58
As thrilled as I am with this, I won't be shocked if we get shutout the next one. Need to string together a few offensive bursts for me to believe the bats are back.

Jake's best game pitched this season tonight (7 IP, no BB) and two hits for himself. Nice to see. Russell and Happ have locked down the 4-5 slot in lineup. Combined 8-10 hitting. Each with 4 hits. Russell's truly back and focused. Bryant with 2 hits and a blast for 3-run home run. This was what we Cubs fans were waiting to see. Go Cubs! Go!
06/23/2017 at 02:10
I'm glad they finally sent Scwarber back down to AAA, should have happened a month ago, you can't let a young guy like that just sit in a slump and keep poring the pressure on and expect him to snap out of it by himself.
06/23/2017 at 02:09
Russell and Happ with 4 hits each and Contreras continues to rake. It's only a matter of time before the offense comes around for good. Go Cubs

What a boneheaded move to send Schwarber down before Zobrist and Heyward are back. Less flexibility and a weaker roster. I don't get it. It seems so obvious. What am I missing?

I've been calling Schwarber going to Iowa for a few weeks now. It's not a punishment-- it's an opportunity to fix his struggles and to look at the situation in a new way, along with putting him in less pressure situations to do so. This should definitely help not only him, but the entire team.
I'm hoping for a sweep!!

That's all he hits is homers. Which is great. But base hits are just as good. When guys are on base he swings for the bleachers and usually strikes out. He can't move runners. He struck out 4 times the other night. Homers are great small ball is just as productive.
06/22/2017 at 13:27
Funny how people choose this to complain about his lack of contact. He is a kid, give him some time to work on making more contact. Right now his homers are helping.
06/22/2017 at 13:56
Eight homers in 12 starts from a 22-year-old who's played 34 games in the majors . . . and people gripe. That's Cub (Fans)!

Proof that some things are more important than baseball.
Been a cubs fan my entire life, and I dont think there is a team that I have loved more. Not just for the way they play on the field but the way they are off the field.
Didn't know about Szczur giving bone marrow to save a little girls life. What an unselfish amazing thing to do. Again the Cubs are not just ball players, they go way beyond expectations with their selfless acts.

06/21/2017 at 16:47
Once again, all of these people complaining about Maddon...how many titles had you seen the Cubbies win before he showed up? I guess if you are a bandwagon fan and hadnt been around for years of struggle then this year is a disappointment, lol.
06/21/2017 at 15:08
Bryant in right is unnecessary, happ could play right and la Stella can play 2b, Bryant at 3b... la Stella at 3b is the weakest arm I've ever seen play professional baseball from 3b... and Schwarber batting 3rd with is .177 batting avg is hard to watch. Hopefully Cubs can continue to win and sweep the padres but this lineup and where everyone is playing is Maddon being typical Maddon trying to prove is "genius" and over managing

I enjoy watching the home run videos, but only with the hope that some day very soon Wrigley Field will stop playing "Whoop there it is!" over, and over, and over, and over again.
06/21/2017 at 13:53
He's a hard core gamer. Laser focused. The kind of guy you want on your baseball team. It makes me feel bad for some of these kids. We've got 11 players on this team who should be starters and Eloy (a beast!) is waiting in the wings. Inevitably the Cubs brass is choking the careers of some of these players. How would you settle this future lineup?

I think most cub fans, even with how rough the season has been for us up to this point, are not worried about the brewers lol we will win this division. Maybe with 85 wins, maybe with 90, but as long as we get into the playoffs, we have a chance
06/21/2017 at 03:33
i was a little concerned taking monry out at just 57 pitches but the pepen came through, edwards has been shaky but grim has started to shine again. If he can get back to 2015 form oh baby. Oops 75 pitches not 57 dyslexic moment

They should have had him leading off to start the season. Rizzo Does not strike out as much Schwarber does and he has more experience also the pitcher wants to throw strikes right off the bat get it over and Rizzo is locked in right now. I hope they ride it as long as they can.
