Songezo is only 7 years old, but has already had a long and tiring journey in and out of various hospitals. She's been experiencing pain in her tummy, as well as unusual swelling in her legs and face. Songezo’s mom is positive that the doctors at the Red Cross Children's Hospital will be able to diagnose her little girl and treat her accordingly. Let’s send lots of love to Songezo and her mom!

Charming little Siyanda from Gugulethu has suffered severely lately as a result of a liver infection. This bubbly 1-year-old has been visiting the Red Cross Children’s Hospital regularly for check-ups and to undergo treatment and he is now feeling much better as a result. Let’s all send strength to Siyanda for a full recovery!

SHARE the good news! Sweet little Dewanito was diagnosed with brain cancer when he was only 7 months old. At the time, Dewanito travelled all the way from Oudtshoorn to undergo surgery at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital, which was very successful. Today, the healthy 3-year-old came in for one of his regular MRI scans and there is no trace of cancer!

The Children’s Hospital Trust announces the funding of the expansion and upgrade of Groote Schuur Neonatal Unit. The renovation will improve neonatal healthcare across the province, preventing neonatal infections, increasing space in the unit, improving efficiency and workflow, and providing an environment that is conducive to the physical and emotional health of babies, parents and staff.

As a result of a rare spinal cord disease, little Tazzlin experiences difficulty breathing. She was placed on a ventilator in the Hospital's newly upgraded ICU, to regulate her breathing patterns. After a month in hospital, Tazzlin underwent her second surgery, which was a great success and she is currently in a stable condition and improving daily.

Held to commemorate the World War II servicemen and veterans who donated two days of their pay towards what was to become this iconic Hospital, this year’s celebration also recognises 60 years of paediatric healthcare excellence.
13-year-old Mischka, is a local athletics star in her hometown, Malmesbury. She has been at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital for a few weeks undergoing treatment after she unexpectedly suffered from heart and kidney failure following a lung infection. The Red Cross Primary School’s art classes are what Nagamso looks forward to most while she is in Hospital.
