Cody Kessler will still have to ultimately win starting QB job in wide open competition ... but for now, he's the one to beat.

Gives me the Colt McCoy vibe. Serviceable, but checks down way too much. Doesn't throw down field. I really think we will see him play as the staff has to see what they have, but my gut has been telling me since day 1 Osweiler was brought in for more than the draft pick (and the "not interested" crap was a ruse). Like him or not, he's being judged on 1 crappy season after being tutored by Peyton Manning as a backup. Someone was bound to kick the tires and we got a 2nd to do it.
Yes but if he lacks and doesn't maintain the confidence then we have Brock who definitely wants to compete has a different attitude then Houston while he's here love it !!!

Just saw an interesting piece on NFL Live about second year QB's. They featured Wentz, Goff and Prescott and whether there would be an improvement. The talking heads were positive when talking about Wentz and Prescott because they have consistent coaching and philosophy. Goff is learning under a new regime in LA. I am a big fan of Cody and wishing him well this year. I hope his hard work during the off season and the knowledge acquired last year will give him a step up on the competition.

The two seasons of drafts and free agency acquisitions, this is Hue's team. I really want to see some improvements. Specifically, I want to see 60 minutes of 100% effort. No more blown leads.

Joe is a NATURAL! After his hall of fame career as a player is over, he can step right into sports broadcasting, any type of sport will do, or maybe have his own comedy show. Either way I would never miss it!

I mean Joesus is gonna have a great career in broadcasting when he hangs up the pads! He'd fit in on the Fox NFL sunday desk perfectly.

Admittedly excited for this team . Been a tough 20 yrs Browns . Turn it around . I want the feeling I had when Kosar and Clay Mathews played .

I hate how everyone just writes Osweiler off. He literally hasn't played one minute and everyone just assumes he's trash. I'm excited about our group of qb's. I'm also excited about our whole team this year!
I like Kessler, but I also think Osweiler could do alright with a decent line. The way Cleveland is building their line, I think whomever starts could see a fair amount of success as long as the receivers produce and the coaching staff utilizes the run game consistently.
He was the #1 free agent QB a couple of years ago.. Don't know what happened in Houston but he has all the tools to succeed from a physical standpoint.. Maybe Hue can teach him a thing or two... He's here, lets try to use him if he can help us!!

Don't know what to expect from the offense other than having a solid offensive line. I am so anxious for the first preseason game to get a glimpse of the potential and possibilities of Garrett, Ogunjobi, Brantley, Ogbah, Shelton, Nassib, and the rest of the defensive line.
I know it's only OTAs but does this team look bigger and stronger to anyone else? From what I've seen early on the youngest team in the NFL doesn't look like pushovers. Still time to yuck It up but so far I'm digging the look and vibe. Now let's put it together and win some games.

I'll start by saying they needed a football mind in the room so smart move.. However, what he did with the Colts other than drafting luck was terrible. Drafted Lots of early round sub par receivers, completely avoided drafting good defensive players, the trich deal that set them back..
05/24/2017 at 22:48
Just when we start to see a light at the end of the 25 year tunnel, they hire that moron.
05/24/2017 at 23:01
I just made fun of him but he is a better scout and talent guy than brown or moneyball. He is a football guy something our front office needs..No one knows what he had to put up with working for that nut job owner..Like everything else this new group has done I will give him a chance.

Brock could be the best QB here since 1999... Give the guy a break, you wouldn't turn down the contract he signed in Houston.
05/24/2017 at 17:45
Saying all of the right things. See if he can produce in this system. A change of scenery can be a good thing for this guy. Just needs to keep his head straight.
05/24/2017 at 18:04
One year in a complicated system here in Houston with a horrible O-line, and predictable play calling. I hope he wins out and torches everyone this year. Great pick up.

The Browns won one game last year but there are ONLY 5 positions up for grabs. I would think every position except Joe Thomas' would be up for grabs.

After the record the Clowns posted last year they should have every position open for competition......including the front office Clowns....

Beast has the tools to be a top five rt. Last year was a red shirt. Big athletic and nasty. J Thomas has three pro bowl years left. Im calling it now. Barring any injury our line will be top five. Our dline with Garrett Ogbah Shelton plus Brantley. Lbs Collins Kirksey with versatile Peppers. A hungry Crowell. People better take notice. The league is.
05/23/2017 at 22:05
The way I see it he played fairly well at the end of the season in games. If he worked hard in the off season he may be good. NFL strength is different from collegiate level. He has good potential.
05/23/2017 at 23:49
There will always be naysayers out there. But , I'm actually excited about the upcoming season. Young and hungry guys on this roster. Last year was a train wreck. I look at about 15 new players who will contribute alot. Only offseason mistake was not resigning Pryor. Those young boys got to step it up.

Well in the limited amount of time Miles Garrett has been in Cleveland, he has answered a lot of questions I had.
1. He signed his rookie deal without holding out.
2. He has embraced the city and been at Tribe and Cavs games.
3. Most importantly he is following the coaches instructions and working hard.
I certainly hope this continues because we need this type of guy on our team, and praying that he lives up to all the hype.

Dude just wears a plain hoody and t-shirt to the Cavs game while every other brown in attendance is worried about appearance and bling. He probably got a 3rd workout in after the Cavs game. He knows what matters most.

Kenny Britt is the big possession receiver the browns need. They got plenty of speed in coleman, louis, and payton. Also coming off a 1000 yard season. I think he'll do well
05/23/2017 at 12:21
Even if we only squeak out 3 wins I am still excited in the direction of this team. Another solid draft next year with very little change in the front office and coaching staff, they can build a beast for the next 5 years. All we need to do is set the tone of the team and keep that consistent for the young players as they mature. I can't wait for the season to start.
05/23/2017 at 03:40
I like Kenny Britt. He's not going to put up allpro numbers but he's going to give us a guy who can catch and doesn't make stupid mistakes like Pryor

If he can play safety then great, if not then don't force it. Personally I think that Joe Haden (when on the field) is our best DB. Taylor had a great bounce back year and ended the season as the 19th best CB ranked by PFF. Body Calhoun lead the team in INTs as a rookie playing nickel. I think or starters are in good shape so long as they can stay healthy so personally I'd rather have guys like McCourty and Stribling there for depth. Don't force a position change if it isn't natural.
05/23/2017 at 03:36
Idk I personally don't think he starts. Haden and Taylor then Peppers or Calhoun nickel and dime. Reynolds at FS then maybe Powell at SS. Peppers will eventually end up there but I don't think he's a starter day 1. I think it's gonna be hard to beat Reynolds at FS. He looked real good last year. I know one thing there is plenty of competition in the backfield.
05/22/2017 at 23:26
Oh it must be nearing the end of May, its that time during the off-season when everything you can dream of no matter what it is looks like will work and if it doesn't there is still time to try them at another position, all this stuff works great until Sept 10th when Pitt comes to town and blows us out by 40, then on to plan C which is to just lose and call it another rebuilding year.
