Congratulations to Clipper 2017-18 Race crew member Will Stokely, who recently combined his passion for running with his nautical race adventure ahead to complete the Great South Run.

Whilst his footwear was fitting for the 10 mile course, Will decided to make things a lot more difficult for himself by running in full Henri Lloyd foul weather gear in aid of the races Official Charity, Unicef.

China’s ‘Sailing City’ Qingdao has today confirmed it will continue as a Host Port and Team Partner to the end of 2020, making this the longest consecutive race partnership in our history at the Clipper Race.

CEO William Ward was in Qingdao today to sign the agreement with Madam Luan Xin from the Qingdao Major International Sailing Events (Festivals) Organising Committee.

“I live in Johannesburg so I am not really a sailor at all, this is a stepping stone in the right direction,” says 2017-18 race crew member, Andy Sutherland.

Andy recently completed two of the four compulsory training courses in preparation for the South Atlantic Challenge leg. We caught up with him to discover why he has always had a desire to sail across the Atlantic.

Congratulations to Clipper 2015-16 Race circumnavigator Gavin Reid for being awarded the CYCA SOLAS Trusts Bravery Award from Australian Sailing in recognition of the rescue he and his Mission Performance team conducted off the eastern Australian coast last January.
