We often like to think of wilderness as being untouched by humans but in reality we were shaping our landscapes long before the industrial or even agricultural revolutions.

Spending time in the Makuleke Contractual Park in northern Kruger (Pafuri triangle between the Luvuvhu and Limpopo rivers) really brought home the dynamic way, even in recent history, humans have been a part of the story...

Heading up to Makuleke to spend a week with Wild Ark and Ecotraining.

This was a leopard we watched feed on a warthog in Wild Ark's 'Pridelands' a few weeks ago.

When I was a kid I wanted to be a game ranger or a wildlife vet - nothing quite like getting to live out part of your childhood dreams.

Had an incredible 10 days at Malilangwe on the 'Chemical and Physical Restraint of Wild Animals’ course. Amazing to learn from some of southern Africa's best vets and other vets and students from 16 countries in one of Zimbabwe's most beautiful wildlife areas.
When it's 40 degrees celcius and you've had enough...

This Spotted hyena definitely had the right idea, staying cool and napping during the midday heat.
A massive congratulations to Wild Ark on the acquisition of their first wildlife conservancy, called Pridelands, in partnership with EcoTraining, in South Africa today.

Located in one of the world’s 34 biodiversity hotspots, Pridelands is a 4500-acre former buffalo-hunting property that they plan to return to migrational and residential wildlife.

WildArk's plan is to restore ecologically...

Captains run done and all packed up to get on the shinkansen to Nagoya. We play against Toyota Verblitz tomorrow.

Professional Whey WPI is the best post-workout/post-game protein I've used. I always chuck a shaker in my travel bag for after the game.

I keep it pretty simple with supplements and alternate between the WPI for after gym sessions or their 3.0, which is a blend, when I...

Thanks for all the support in 2016.
Here's to a great 2017.
A few young Japanese macaques enjoying some time in a hot spring during the rain.

Very similar to how my brothers and I spent our time in the pool when we were younger

Really enjoyed my first game with the Panasonic Wild Knights today. The team has made me feel really welcomed this week. Thank you.

1145am kickoff and then back onto the Shinkansen and back to Ota this afternoon.
After 5 weeks in the UK, Ireland and France it's time to head home. Thanks for having us and thanks to all the Wallabies supporters over here and back home - tough year but your support has been huge. Lovely walk around Hampstead Heath this afternoon before settling in for a solid day of travel. : @sampsonian #dpfb [ Ift.tt Link ]
Not the way we wanted to end the Qantas Wallabies season but congrats to England on the win.

Tough year with lots of learnings and things to build on. Thanks for all the support this year.

My last game in the green and gold for a while.
Gutted about the result last night. Lots of effort but we fell short.

Congrats to Ireland on the win and thanks for the hospitality this week.

Thanks to all the Wallabies supporters in the crowd and everyone watching at home for the support.

We're off to London this morning for another big week.
Ice cream recipe using Professional Whey up on my blog. If you have an ice cream maker or have access to one (we used a friends) you have to try this!

Been a long time since I've played alongside Kyle Godwin.

Really excited for him.

Itching to get out there tomorrow night after a big week of training.
That was a really tough game. Thanks for having us, Scotland.

Great to get the win in the end and celebrate Nick and Izzy's 50th caps.

First time I've played at Murrayfield - incredible ground and atmosphere.
Here's a link to watch big wave surfer Mark Matthews and I talk about how I prepare for games, dealing with and overcoming fear, dealing with injury, my poor surfing and some other stuff. 'The Joy of Fear' he calls it...

Watching the giraffes do their thing at training.

Solid week of preparation in Edinburgh.
