Years ago I stated that the Detroit Pistons possessed one of the best supporting casts in the league, and that all hey really needed was a quality coach and a "hero" in order to become a great team. Well, they have the coach. What they don't have is the hero. By this I mean the sort of player that can take the team on his back during those twenty or so close games at the end; or who can personally step up at those times when the team begins to fall fifteen or more points behind in the third or early fourth quarters. Not necessarily a superstar or even just an all star. The Going to Work Pistons, for example, had no superstars per se, but they did have four heroes on that team. Just one hero, mind you, and we could feasibly add ten to twenty wins to our season. My request then is to any of the hero type players out there in the league who are presently wallowing behind their team's superstar. Please consider coming to the Detroit Pistons and become, with this core of a supporting cast, the Motor City's own personal hero. Thank you.

We'll probably make the playoffs by default, because the east sucks badly, and it will delude SVG to overpay Bradley, and we'll compete with Portland to be the most overpaid mediocre team in the league (at least the Blazers have true stars and the excuse to be in the West)

1-4 = Boston Milwaukee Cleveland and Toronto.. 5-8 = completely up for grabs... Especially with alot of talent heading out west..

Now can we move Jackson and Drummond? Drummond just might be the most overrated player in basketball.

Hey, it'll help out tremendously if he can should better than KCP did.

Look at all the people complain because he's wearing "Prince's number" like he ever did anything outside of the Reggie Miller block. Dude sucked and is the reason they passed on Melo, Wade, and Bosh any one of them would've brought more championships.
EDIT: Ok, my words downplay Prince, he was a very solid player at his peak he was an above average 2 way player. That's not an opinion that's using PER, VORP, and the such. But we're not talking about a HOFer, we're talking about the 5th best player on a championship team who was very good in that championship series. Is this better? Lol

Pistons want to be a contender you go get Kyrie Irving ! He is the leader that we need remember the guy name Isaiah Lord Thomas! VanGundy finally stepped up to the plate by letting pope walk. Bradley is a much better consistent ball player at the two guard position. Our backcourt would be set. Kyrie Irving is biting at the bit to have a higher leadership role LeBron James controlled your thought your behavior he wanted it all. Only wish Tom Gores would step up to the plate and go get this leader that is biting at the bit to lead!! Pistons have to get a leader on the court Kyrie Irving is that man! VanGundy cannot do it all on the sidelines.

The #Pistons return to the postseason starts with a healthy Reggie Jackson, who is convinced he’ll be back to 2015-16 form when he hits training camp, Keith Langlois writes in today's Trending.

He's still not going to play one lick of defense---injured or otherwise. Not only is he an atrocious defender---but he doesn't even pretend to look like he even cares on that end of the court. Watch him: watch his footwork, watch how he NEVER puts his body in harm's way, watch how he gives clear paths to the basket, watch how he refuses to contest shots, watch how he refuses to help beaten teammates. One word for Reggie's defensive effort: Sickening.
Should've unloaded him for Ricky Rubio, when they had the chance.
Disinterested owner and incompetent GM--with ZERO blueprints for a long-term winning model.
Tank and tear this team apart please.
A die-hard (but tired and disgusted) Piston fan.
07/21/2017 at 17:22
See, what this team's trying to do is take the easy, pain-free road back to prominence.
But it doesn't work like that in 2017's NBA. You have to literally tear this thing to the ground, hit rock bottom, and climb up from there.
Getting into the Playoffs in the NBA is NO accomplishment--especially in a putrid Eastern Conference.
Hanging on to Drummond and Jackson, drafting middling players like Stanley Johnson, Henry Ellenson and Luke Kinnard, only sets you back farther, long-term.
It takes shrewd drafting, patient ownership, and steady GM planning to do this thing right---the current Pistons have done none of that.
I'm sorry, but making the Playoffs this upcoming year--heck, even getting a #5 or #6 seed is not an accomplishment and nothing to be proud of.
07/21/2017 at 17:21
As long as you have Reggie and Drummond, no to the playoffs...no defense from one and no free throws from the other...

Yeah he cool but I'm sick af we lost Marcus Morris he in bodies Detroit Basket ball. He dam sure would've fit with the 2004 team.
07/20/2017 at 18:12
His advanced levels of defense and offense as well as a championship pedigree will help replace KCP and more. He should help put us over the hump on many of those games we blew at the end
07/20/2017 at 18:27
I did not know his number until now. Isn't Drummond number 0? If so, Drummond needs to give that number up because he isn't worthy of having a number over someone who knows how to play. EVERYDAY!

Lazy and lack of heart. I wouldn't all his other faults if he just played hard every night.

He's still a liability at the end of games and a horrible teammate.

I believe the Pistons problems on offense was always due to the fact that they didn't have a 2nd ball handler in the lineup and had to rely on Jackson to create to much with Bradley on the court we now have what's needed to open things up

Tayshaun don't even like the Pistons no more because of what joe dumars did. So tell me why is everybody getting so upset about Avery wearing the #22 Jersey when Tayshaun said it out his own mouth that he wants nothing to do with detroit pistons. Trust me he wouldn't care who where's that number. Matter of fact Svg got tayshawn in a trade deal and played for a little and he bought itself out cause he didn't want to play for the detroit. So im not going to get mad over a Jersey that a ex player dont care about us.. Just stupid
