This tour in mid-1998 was YOU AM I at the peak of their live show performances. They were sublime that night at Festival Hall in Brisbane, and I've seen them over 30 times since, rarely put on a bad show. They were undoubtedly IMO the Best Live Band in the country at that time.

Too many to mention. I loved Homebake -a showcase of Australian talent. Some memorable gigs that were so cheap to go to back then: Custard, Gerling, Augie March, the Whitlams, Resin Dogs, Not From There, Friendly, Jebediah. I can't recall them all, but live music in the 90s was what life was all about in my teens!
TISM, The Fauves, Mark of Cain, Grinspoon and Tumbleweed at Homebake. Gold.

Chit Chat from Machine Gun Fellatio, our host for the afternoon, saw heaps of cracking gigs in the 90s. Is your favourite artist in the mix here?

Certainly were, there was mayhem but still felt safe. Too many juiced up 'brahs' using it as an excuse for violence currently.

There seemed to be more comraderie in the 90s. If someone went down or got hurt the crowd would part and pick them back up. Met loads of great people in the mosh. These days I see people throw cheap sucker punches.

Rage Against the Machine....at the BDO in 96 or 97...Tumbleweed mosh pits were always crazy as well.

It can't have been much more than 10 years ago. I forget what year it is now, but the US president keeps talking about Hillary Clinton, there's a new Gorillaz album and Vin Diesel has had two big movies this year already.

Double J killin' it today. Meanwhile Triple J is still snoreworthy, about as entertaining as watching grass grow.
Double J should have the FM radio national network that Triple J uses right now or at least share equal time on it.

Didn't see Jeff Buckley but imagine that it would have been impressive. I would have seen about a third of the list. Top three for me would be Radiohead, Mr Bungle and The Tea Party. Top three Australian acts would be iNsuRge, Drop City and Big Heavy Stuff.

Hole was a kickass band and I adore Courtney, but I can also understand how being in that band would not work for certain personalities.

Hole had some great music, but a wise choice not to join them.

I remember clubbing in the 90s in Sydney and what a great scene it was. Sydney in the late 90s was mainly hard trance and hard house whereas I preferred Progressive House which was harder to find. But I met some amazing people and we shared some great times. The attitude of the authorities was also far better. Today the Police are so aggressive towards people. Its not neccessary and it puts people in danger.

My belief is that we share the planet with plants, animals and other life. We need to be careful how we treat the planet and also be careful about who we give power, money etc. to. A little more nuanced, I guess.

I'm guessing Adelaide may get a show if Melbourne doesn't sell fast enough to warrant a second show. Obviously it's easier and much cheaper to not move the entire production so I'd say they'd prioritise a 2nd Melbourne gig. Shame for those folk in SA.

You must be joking, Benjamin !!
Although Frances and I think it might be a bit boring seeing him at Homebush compared to Dusseldorf or California we'll be there if at all possible.
Want to come ??

Hey Sir Paul! Remember 1964? When 4.7 billion lined Adelaide's streets to see you? No? Disappointing.
