Car stolen in ‘2-in-1’ burglary

Just before 3pm on Tuesday 17th January burglars forced their way into a house on the Whitworth Park estate, Spennymoor via the rear patio doors stealing car keys to a Skoda Octavia and subsequently made off with the vehicle.

The intruders, thought to be two men, took the keys to the white Skoda Octavia VRS and drove off.

This is a great pic of part of our force control room back in the early 80's.

The phone on the left received 999 calls from the public, it was red and known affectionately as 'the bat phone'.

Did you know officers were required to 'parade on' at the start of every shift. This was to inspect them for readiness for duty by checking equipment, uniform etc.

These days officers attend a briefing at the start of every shift but it's still affectionately referred to as 'parading on'

Starting on Monday, 16th January major roadworks are being carried out on the A688 Thinford Lane, to the east side of the A167/A688 Thinford roundabout.
