"Congratulations to Sebastian, I think he owes us a beer"
Australian Grand Prix: What the teams said

If Seb owes Christian and Red Bull a bear, then Mercedes owe them a year's supply and Red Bull owe them a year's supply of energy drinks. Spain, Monaco (a moral beer for Monaco, more like) of 2016 to name but a few, those three race wins in 2014, eh Christian?...
- Christian Horner... Says a lot.
Top notch race, regardless. Seb and Ferrari showed a lot of Mercedes' weaknesses in this race, it must be said.
03/26/2017 at 22:50
Even the Red Bull principal admits it. But Seb was excellent in his own right and said himself that he got some fortune, so it's all good.
03/27/2017 at 00:56
Boring race, until the motors get back the sound of racing engines, until the races have refueling and less aerodynamic cars, the races will be predictable and boring.

Hamilton is only there because of the cars he's driven, he has no legendary status at all! Schumacher the true Master!!!

The real drivers on this list are Schumacher and Alonso
Ivan Luiz Bertoni Júnior
03/26/2017 at 22:00
Ok, but a fair comparison should consider the percentage of GP. I mean, nowadays there are to many races in a year than 20 years before, so, if you drive a powerful car, like Hamilton has drove last 3 years, it's easier to do it.
I'm pretty sure the most effective pilots still be legends like Prost, Senna, Moss, Fangio and Schumacher.

Ferrari have real pace to fight with Merc, We can have titanic battle between Ferrari and Merc, Can't wait for China #ForzaFerrari
03/26/2017 at 20:21
This could've been a much bigger battle.
Red Bull and mclaren could have a photo finish against Mercedes and Ferrari if they had horsepower anywhere in the neighborhood of those two.
Red Bull obviously has a good chassis, and I think mclaren does too because despite the huge deficit to even Renault, Alonso was able to hold on reasonably well in the midfield.
Can't wait for some big engine development this season

Let's talk Ferrari's resurrection if their reliable and CLINCHES BOTH THE CONSTRUCTOR AND DRIVER'S CHAMPIONSHIP 5 years and nothing but a few wins LET'S NOT scream after the first race! You can't walk down the paddock without tripping on Ferrari merchandise!

didn't you guys have a picture of Vettel? It's kind of deceiving to put Kimi's instead , don't you think? Don't get me wrong, Kimi is my favorite driver.

What's with showing Kimi instead of Vettel, who won the race for Ferrari? Love Kimi but he didn't win this race! Congratulations to Vettel and good drive for Bottas, his first race with Mercedes. Love F1!!!❤

As a huge Vettel fan i absolutely love the situation right now. Seb is happy, he gets along with his car and he is competitive. And he is absolutely in form. F1, get ready to expect something from the 4 times Formula 1 World Driver's Champion!
03/26/2017 at 17:44
What this race has shown us is that powertrain is not everything. The vastly superior Ferrari suspension system and chassis made the tyres last so much longer and forced Mercedes into a bad strategy
03/26/2017 at 18:24
Nice win but its early days to start saying Ferrari are back or Max is brilliant etc etc. All teams and drivers are getting used to the changes to the cars in race conditions which will be a heck of a lot different to testing. Even Vettel has said its going to take a few races before any clear winner becomes apparent.

I'm a Hamilton fan but I have always liked the way Vettel has gone about his business and apart from that he is a proper racer and a 4 time Champion. He and Ferrari were on it.

Arrivabene's sigh of relief could be heard halfway across the World.
03/26/2017 at 17:04
In all honesty Ferrari probably shouldn't have won. Max slowed lewis, and Ferrari definitely can't control whether Max held him up or pit right after lewis. Ferrari was faster, but their strategy was again poor and they were only saved by red bull's strategy.
Ferrari won't always be that lucky

He's such a charming lad! One of the best personalities on the grid like Ricciardo! Today he drove a mature race & bagged his 1st point! He totally justified Sahara Force India Formula One Team's faith in him!
03/26/2017 at 18:18
He wrecked Alonso's car while overtaking him. That way I can score points too. Just break the car in front of you.
03/26/2017 at 19:26
No worry about this guy he is more talented than verstappen. And he is doing this in a car that is so pathetic

Hopefully the Mercs and Ferrari (and soon Red Bull if they get their stuff together) will make it interesting this year. I don't care who becomes the champion, but I want to see different winners fighting for the victory till the last lap.

Let's not get too excited. 19 more races to go and Scuderia Ferrari has to be on top in the end!!! #ForzaFerrari

First ever race for me. I've never ever watched anything about f1 other than videos about the cars. It was only a couple of months ago when i seriously started looking into it and getting to understand the rules and such. For my first ever time giving f1 a serious go, i loved it!

New regs not producing the close racing that was hyped........
What do they expect, by increasing aero grip they've pretty much destroyed any chance of overtaking without DRS.
I sincerely hope that the rest of the season does not play out like this.
03/26/2017 at 12:59
It was a good race, however we need more overtakes, more speed, basically more racing show!!! Hopefully this will be an interesting season and please, someone should give a hand to the McLaren guys, it's such a wasteful to have Alonso fighting for 1 point!
03/26/2017 at 13:00
LH: Unfortunately it’s harder than ever to get close to cars, which is a shame. We can’t even have a close battle.
The races will be a boring procession.

Such a tragedy for an amazing driver and an historic team like Fernando Alonso and Mclaren-Honda ...
Martin Brundle is right this is awful for F1 and them , something has to be done 😞
03/26/2017 at 12:19
Antonio - Arguably one of the greatest drivers ever to grace F1, yet continually hamstrung by uncompetitive hardware - such a shame, yet nothing but class from Alonso today.

It is almost certain that Kimi will retire with Ferrari at the end of this year. Why doesn't Alonso just go back to Ferrari.
With Ferrari, he can win any day even if they are a bit behind Merc

31 of hamiltons victories have been in the last 3 seasons just shows how dominant Mercedes has been hopefully we see Ferrari and red bull able to compete this year
03/26/2017 at 11:37
Not a Ferrari fan but was great to see them challenging Mercedes, however it's the 1st race of the season so there is no point in predicting the championship winner just yet,
Let's hope it's a tight battle throughout the entire season with hopefully RedBull mixing things up also
03/26/2017 at 11:45
But look at that 91 victory by Michael , that's unbeatable! And imagine the number if Mercedes was good like nowdays back when Schumi was driving for them hehe..

If only we had Alonso instead of Raikkonen. I believe a VET-ALO duo was definitely worthy of a constructors championship!!!

Boring race. And I'm not a Hamilton fan. How many overtakings did we see? I can only remember one: Ocon and Hulkenberg on Alonso where Ocon broke Alonso's car which was already the worst car/engine on the grid. 👎🏽

Even if all the boxes ticked and no issue yesterday or today the car is still 1.5 seconds of the front runners . max drove hard did not get anywhere, speed traps were not indicating speed in his car , to give these two formidable drivers a chance they need a bloody faster car, just seems like another year of racing for 4th come on Red Bull
