When Rosa Carroll, Mary McNamara, Lily O’Connor and Sorcha Costello gave reporter Cian McCormack a flavour of #fleadh2017 for Radio 1’s Morning Ireland on Monday last, it inspired some listeners to write poetry.
The muse not so much the musicians as Mary McNamara and her red shoes.
We look forward to seeing more of Mary, her shoes and of course Lily, Rosa and Sorcha at Fleadh Cheoil na...

Breaking News:
The biggest of the provincial fleadheanna - Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan - is coming to Ennis in 2018.
The Munster Fleadh has all the feel of an All Ireland Fleadh, and we have become very accustomed to that in Ennis. It will take place here in the Clare county town from July 17 to July 22, 2018.
The last Munster Fleadh to be held in Clare was in Ennistymon in 1993.

In another trip down memory lane, here is Michael Marrinan from Waterford, a man with family ties to West Clare, singing his own composition "Binder Twine" at the Fleadh in Clonmell in 1992. You can hear Robbie McMahon, yes he who first sang about the “Fleadh down in Ennis”, in the background encouraging him.

Who among us of a certain age doesn’t remember the Pure Drop?!
Well do you remember the night Christy Barry from Ennistymon was on the RTE1 show playing three Jigs: Mulqueeny’s, Mrs. Leahy’s and The Lark in the Morning. It was way back in 1991. (And before you say 1991 was only a few years ago - it was 26 years ago)

Chairman of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2017 Frank Whelan likes to let the music do the talking, so when he went to the Clare FM studios on Monday morning to discuss #fleadh2017 in Ennis, he took Blackie O’Connell, Siobhan Peoples and Michael Queally along.
The music starts about 50 seconds in - and feel free to help Blackie out naming the tunes!
