A homeless man has been given a second chance at life after a generous landlord offered him a two bedroom house and offered to pay the difference between his state rent allowance and the rent.

The Government has got its worst mark in six years for children’s rights with campaigners warning some of the most vulnerable are being rendered invisible.

New Government figures on homelessness show a new record high with 7,167 homeless adults and children in January.

This is compared to 7,148 in December - and a rise of a quarter since this time last year (5,715).
