You're Doing It Wrong: Refrigerating Onions

I don't refrigerate onions at all. They are kept in a drawer and when I cook with one I either use the whole thing or I throw the rest in the garbage. They suck up all kinds of things after they are cut.
When only using a part of an onion, I cut off what I need and wrap the remainder in foil, cut side down and wrapped then tightly twisted. It never smells and lasts for weeks in the fridge without getting soggy.
Who the hell is storing uncut onions in the fridge? If i have part of one left it goes in a glass jar and in the fridge for maybe two days.
Food Inc really needs to try harder on posts. Maybe do some good research and do a write-up internally. Link to a generally useless and detail lacking popsugar article? I hope you aren't paying the person that felt this was post worthy.

I'm in TX and order avos from CA every month. considering postage, the cost's not bad. My fav. comes in winter - Sir Prize, from Avo Monthly in Escondodo, and I fill in fall with Fuerte from cal avo direct in fallbrook. Hass and others most of the spring/summer. sir prize does not discolor in the fridge or on the table, and it's huge with very small seed, so more meat for the price. no Mex avos for us, nor the tiny ones in the market.
04/29/2017 at 10:11
California and Florida are already able to farm year round! Avocados specifically don't begin to ripe unless it was picked off the branch. An avocado can last up to a year on the tree..

The Secret To Getting Into An Artichoke So You Can Actually EAT It

We eat the leaves, dipped in butter. Artichokes are a family favorite, maybe the only vegetable we all get excited about. My kids don't like the heart 😂 but have fun with the leaves. The artichokes are pretty easy to make: cut off top inch, snip leaves, cut off stem, rub in vinegar or lemon juice to prevent browning, 40 minutes of steaming and voila.
Tip: don't throw away the stems! I peel them, rub/dip in vinegar and throw them in the pot with the tops to steam. A lot of good meat in them!

I only recently learned that the stem is edible too! Almost as yummy as the heart. By far my favorite veggie.

So if cows farts are ruining the environment how would converting the 93% of the world that eats meat to vegan help this? Could you imagine the gas everyone would have lol? How much are you going to reduce the cow population to have the land available to grow all these plants?

We shouldn't be eating tuna. There is no correct can. They are beautiful big fish and are predators so the toxins are exponentially accumulating in them - definitely not healthy! We overfish and I'm sure these beautiful fish will be extinct soon. Another's blight of humanity.
04/28/2017 at 01:33
So proud I've been buying American Tuna for the last few years and it truly tastes better. I have to say it should best Wild Planet because it's packed in the US and not shipped to Thailand for processing making it even more environmentally friendly. For those complaining about spending $4-$5 on a can of tuna I'd like to point out that you can get 4-5 tuna sandwiches out of a can, so it's still cheaper than eating fast food and healthier too.
04/28/2017 at 01:13
Actually, we've been eating the 'best' for the last few years. It is a little more expensive, but it is worth it. It's not the 'cat food' like you are used to. It's a fish steak in a can.

I did😄. My default egg substitute is 1 tablespoon of ground flax seed with three tablespoons of warm water. But I have used the bean liquid as well.

Instead of fooling yourself calling it egg whites why not label it what it is; bean foam.

I tried aquafaba whipped cream and although it did whip to a cream consistency, regardless of the amount of sugar and vanilla I whipped in, the flavor was horrible. I would never make it again.

I'm done following this page. Farm animals follow strict treatment schedules and are not slaughtered until the antibiotic is no longer present in the animal.

Im also done following this page. Our meat or milk does not have antibiotics...there is something called withdrawal period and sampling of animal products for consumption. The industry Is very regulated. Follow pages that are truthworthy and know the facts like Fabulous Farm Babe, The Farmer's Daughter and Dairy Carrie.

I cut out caffeine (2 cups Green Tea during week and 1 8-12oz latte Sat/Sun) for about 6 weeks. I felt like a walking zombie, my workouts went horribly, felt sluggish, moody, and could not concentrate, low motivation. It was awful. I don't drink pop, but I'm back on Tea/Coffee in the morning, and water, water, water for the rest of the day, and I feel fabulous!!!!

Interesting, but I think there is one very important aspect missing concerning this subject: that is the animal itself!
It seems to me that the lives and the well being of those fish are not taken in consideration in the equation. And in my opinion, it is an argument worth not eating fish at all.
