Nearly home from Sierra Leone. A profoundly moving trip for me, I'm now extremely fired up about doing what I can for WAYout (Worldwide Arts For Youth). And I miss my Freetown crew already. #FTJSFWO

Heading home from Freetown and sad to be going. On our last day here I spent time recording with WAYout (Worldwide Arts For Youth) artists. I got four songs done.
This is Meeky Star; he's an orphan street kid, he writes songs. He let me play some guitar with him on one of them. I have the video and will upload when we get home. Total honour.

Went to the beach and met Abu. He's 12 and lost his entire family to Ebola in 2014. Hard to know what to say.
I did compliment him on his Dashboard Confessional shirt; told him I'd let Chris Carrabba know.

Day 3 in Sierra Leone #ftjsfwo. Visited another gullyside area, Ferry Junction, and headed out to a former refugee camp on an abandoned airstrip called Kissitown. Yet more amazing and humbling experiences. This is Amorah; he's from Kenema, he used to be a child soldier and then a gang leader, before discovering Way Out Arts. He was our security today, but also a lovely guy.

Day 2 in Sierra Leone #FTJSFWO. There was me thinking yesterday was intense. Today we visited two areas in Gullyside - Susan's Bay and Moor Wharf - and played music for some of the poorest people in the World. It's hard to articulate what it felt like to be there. Truly life changing. More tomorrow.

Heading for Sierra Leone, with Jamie Stix and Dave Danger from The Joe Strummer Foundation and Ben from The Sleeping Souls.

We are going to be in Freetown for a few days working with WAYout (Worldwide Arts For Youth). It's exciting, nerve-wracking, humbling, and most of all hopefully making a difference for some people who really need it. I'll be posting some updates on twitter and instagram...
