The “off season” for GRM has been the busiest in our 50 plus years of racing. Following a three year agreement to race Volvo’s (2014-2016) our preference was to continue in the Volvo S60s for season 2017. Obviously the news of Volvo’s withdrawal back in May was a complete surprise as it was contrary to the message we had been receiving in regards to their plans.
GRM is very pleased to announce that a driver who began his career with GRM back in 1998 as a 21 year old and who has gone on to be a Supercar Champion, three times Bathurst winner, husband and father of two is back at GRM, Garth Tander.
The final round in what has been one of my most enjoyable seasons in the 53 that I have been a part of. Sure, the year from our point of view has been challenging off the track, but I am so proud of all the boys and girls at GRM with the manner in which they have attacked the work required to see us have what I see as a very, very good season.
Great end to season for Wilson Security Racing GRM with Scott McLaughlin finishing the final race in 5th and claiming 3rd in the Championship. James Moffat finished 10th and the team finished 3rd in the Team Championship.
