Take our poll: who is your favorite President?

This looks like it's just a way to gather names and email addresses. A real poll would have supplied a list of all the presidents' names from which to choose (dropdown menu for instance), otherwise typos or different ways of entering names make it difficult to accurately tally responses.

President Donald J. Trump so far....Obama will go down as the biggest traitor under the guise of an American. George Washington was probably one of our finest yet folks need to know history to be able to answer this...and "yes" everyone has an opinion.

Ronald Reagan is so far the best President in my lifetime. After cleaning Carter's mess was a big task. Now we have to about another mess to cleanup.

Actually Trump is taking us back to the love our founders! If you " Listen to God" then you could see what's happening! I think there enough room for Trump up there!

They would roll over in the graves if they could see how far we've gotten away from this country's foundation of God.

Happy President's day. Thank you President Trump for loving this country enough to make America great again. Thank you for helping with getting more jobs unlike the past several presidents. Most importantly, I am thankful you are a Christian, that your are protecting pastors and we the people.

Mr Abbott I respect your obviously deeply held faith but do you plan to recognize the deeply held faith of our Muslim, Bhuddist, Jewish, or other neighbors? This is why the separation of church and state MUST be a part of our government because Christianity is not the only faith in our great state.

Its ironic how a simple prayer to God can invoke Hatred and anger in a nonbeliever .I wonder where that really comes from ? No just Kidding i already know .Now i will Pray for them .

How do some of you people here live a life not believing in God !!!!! I know we are all free to make our own choices. I would not be able to make it day by day without Gods mercy and grace. I have been a non believer and now a believer.

Imagine that - voter fraud occurring the the blue areas of Texas and they still lost. Election officials should have the authority to turn voters away when they have no ID or refuse to show it when they do have one. Voting is a privilege and when abused, should be revoked.
02/18/2017 at 20:28
We need to fix SCOTUS as a first step to establishing effective voter qualification/ID. After that, registration needs to be tightened up to ensure only citizens are registered. Finally, voter ID shouldn't be a choice. We all know how silly the "no ID" excuse is. Everyone who is legally in this country can get an ID with less problem than what it takes to go to the election polls.
Robert Edward Danhof

Please note that this article does not indicate anyone ineligible to vote actually cast a ballot. It's highlighting instances where rules for identification, which had recently been adjusted by court order, were not properly followed.

Your actions call into question whether you support First and Fourth Amendment rights. Religious freedom doesn't only apply to those of the Christian faith. And you don't get to cherry-pick from the Constitution, either.
02/18/2017 at 18:29
The Second Amendment is not in jeopardy. You are just trying to pull a fast one on the people of Texas. Why don't you do something good for our state like improve education improve access to health care for all citizens. Quit messing around with things that don't need fixing because they are not broke.

Fine with constitutional carry, I guess, if it pertains to a musket.
Seriously greg, focus on real problems in this state. Education, the foster care system. This bill won't help them. This bill won't make our state better. Start listening to all your constituents, or we will vote you out.

Start publicly advertising a list of those released and the offenses theyve committed. Let the Travis County Sheriff start answering for her behavior
02/17/2017 at 21:45
we need to really hold persons releasing these type of criminals accountable...if the released persons commit a serious crime, the one authorizing their release should be arrested as an accomplice..
02/17/2017 at 21:50
Arrest her & place her in jail without bail, appoint new sheriff. Give her a trial, but let her know she will be an accessory to any crimes these people commit that she's released and families hurt by them can sue her personally as well as Travis Country.

I'd like to see Texas pass HB 375 and stop requiring it's citizens to ASK for PERMISSION to carry a firearm, if they were already allowed to possess. Let's start by fixing those 2A limitations in Texas. California can come after us....

This idea is neither Christian, nor American. When Jesus said "welcome the stranger", it wasn't followed by any exceptions. All the legislation, based on fear or greed, is working on Satan's behalf.
02/17/2017 at 01:25
Can any of you explain the difference between this and County clerks refusing to issue marriage licenses to homosexuals? Because Abbott has supported the later. A state employee refusing to abide by Federal Law because it conflicts with their morals. There's even a bill in the senate that would protect clerks who refuse to do their jobs. I don't see anyone up in arms about that. Please explain the difference?

My association dues were deducted from my paycheck just as were my FICA, Teacher retirement, and Medicare. This was handled by the business office and were appropriately distributed. I taught for 30 years and never was aware that this was an onerous task and costly to taxpayers, of which I am one. I was given a choice of writing my own check for payment or letting the business office handle it. Payments came from my paycheck and the business office forwarded it.
Ann Higgins Costa
02/15/2017 at 21:04
The dues are deducted by the same payroll program that deducts taxes and health care. The cost is nominal. We are only talking teachers' organizations here. Like someone mentioned, police and fire will be exempted. I don't understand the animus against teachers.

Last night I met a couple (@ SA Rodeo) that just moved to Texas from Florida. She told me she was so impressed with Texans and our patriotism. She said she was sitting down in this bar area and when the National Anthem started playing everyone stood up, got quiet, and placed their hand over their heart. She said she has never seen that much respect for our National Anthem before. Go Texas!!! 🇺🇸😊

If you're supporting a bathroom bill that descriminates against transgendered citizens and their naturally identified gender then perhaps we should consider revoking handicap access to bathrooms? Seems like a fair exchange.

Change the law, make the sheriff criminally legally responsible as an accomplice, for obstruction, and also financially.
02/14/2017 at 19:08
If the elected official violates the law, they should be removed from office by the state. Make it so governor, and make sure these men do their time, and are deported (regardless of where they do the time). And provide help for the victims.

I think the governor needs to send in the rangers to arrest the Travis County sheriff.

I support Gov Abbott on most issues but not this one. The only reason to do this is to try to union bust.
This is why police and now firemen are exempt. The government knows this has no chance if they tried to do this to all unions.
02/13/2017 at 19:52
I am not a union sympathizer and don't believe in forced union membership, but I think that payroll deduction should at least be permitted if both the employee and employer so desire.
02/13/2017 at 19:50
This is just a blatant attempt to make it more inconvenient for teachers to pay our association dues. These aren't union dues as teachers aren't allowed to unionize in Texas. Notice firefighters, police, nurses, etc. are not included in the bill. Why target teachers?

My son in law came here legally that means he got a lawyer did everything he was supposed to do cost around $3000 a lot cheaper than a coyote that drops them off at the border, he's a engineer, works every day no fear of being deported key word CAME Here LEGALY .
My girl fried came here legally and hired a lawyer for $5000 to do it the legal way and has worked hard and started her own businesses and has never asked the government for any concessions and can't understand why a person from Mexico and now Syria get special privileges.
The goal of sanctuary cities is to keep families from being torn apart by deportations. I am proud that both Houston and Austin have made this pledge and I plan to keep fighting. #resist

our Dad worked for the R.R. for 52 years. RR was Southern Pacific I think and later was named Cotton Belt R R. I still have my Pass that was issued to my Mother, sister and me.. We used the train to visit relatives. I miss that smell . My Dad always smelled like the RR and pencils. Old RR stations still have that smell today.

Railroads are the way to go! Can haul hundreds of tuck loads of material in one trip. Would not eliminate 18 wheelers but it sure would decrease their numbers.
I wish the railroad was strong again so people can travel the United States from state to state. I remember taking the train as a very small child with my Grandmother and going to the dining car. We have an old station in my town that they were thinking of opening. Didn't happen because they were afraid there wasn't enough parking space for vehicles. Wish it would happen
