15% of Guillain-Barre syndrome patients had undergone surgery in the prior 8 weeks. New research suggests that surgery patients with another condition, such as cancer or autoimmune disease, have a slightly higher risk of developing this rare muscle disorder although a cause & effect relationship has not been established.
