Great to meet so many horse owners who availed of micro chipping clinic that we ran on Friday at Dunsink. We are planning on running another clinic for horses in the Dublin area and will put details up on Facebook.
Recent rescue - IHWT Dodger. Dodger was found straying on land in the Wicklow area. He is in good condition but has had very little handling. We were able to load him and bring him back to our equine centre. He is settling in well and getting used to his new environment.

Ex race horse Chapel Island was re-homed to Alek in 2011. In that time he has gone from strength to strength. This amazing video highlights part of their journey together. Well done to both Alex and Chapel Island.
The IHWT is currently running a course in Equine Hoof Care with members from Kildare Traveler Action Ltd in Athy. The course is being delivered by Master Farrier Joe Tobin and aims to teach horse owners all about equine hoof care. Fantastic to see such interest in this course.
Well done to all the staff at IHWT for getting this award and in particular to Jill Power who implemented all our health & safety procedures.
Ready for re-homing - Sarah is a 13.2hh 2010 bay pony mare. She originally came into the IHWT as a welfare case as a 2 year old. She is unbroken and would need an experienced home. She has a lovely temperament and should make a lovely riding pony.
IHWT Trotski is booked to go to his new home. He is the first of our rescues to be re-homed to Germany. We visited Germany last summer and met with the volunteers who carry out home checks and ensure suitable homes are sourced. We are very grateful for their help and support.
IHWT Hugie, the little colt who was found straying on the road in Sallygap last week. Here he is the day he came into our equine centre last week. Although he is in poor body condition the good news is that his leg injury is not serious. Gravel in the toe and a minor wound which is healing well. Hughie has a wonderful temperament and is an absolute gent to handle. He should make a full recovery.
Thanks to all those who helped with the rescue today of stray horse from Sallygap - Glenmacnass area. In holding facility for tonight and will come into our equine center tomorrow. With bad weather forecast this little one would have struggled to survive as also suffering from leg injury
