Securing our borders is one of the top priorities of this new Congress, and I’m grateful to a number of my colleagues for having spent a few days along the border here in Texas this week learning about the challenges of border security along with the opportunities associated with modernizing NAFTA.
It’s important for decision makers in Washington to understand the issues on the border firsthand. I’m proud to have led Members of Congress to the border in Texas this week, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to secure our borders once and for all while ensuring the flow of legitimate trade and travel.

Richard Overton is America’s oldest living WWII veteran, an Austinite and an inspiration to us all. I am honored to know him – and I’m glad he took the time to share some of his great life lessons with us. A must-watch:
Friday, I had the opportunity to visit local Temple businesses and graduates of the Fort Hood VETS Court. I always love using the many examples our great state offers to help implement better policies nationwide.
It was an honor to attend the first ever graduation of the Fort Hood VETS Court, which is doing great work to support our veterans in the Ft. Hood community. It’s time to spread the word about this successful and first of its kind program located on a military installation. [ Cornyn.co Link ]
Obamacare has led to higher premiums with less coverage – the American people deserve better. Our Republican-led Congress is working to replace Obamacare with something more affordable that gives Americans more choices. It’s time to put our families first. [ Bit.ly Link ]
It was a privilege to join more than 200,000 Texans for the 30th annual MLK march in San Antonio. We must continue to embrace Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s message of respecting and discussing all views.
Obamacare is failing the American people. It’s time to provide Americans with a more affordable alternative that isn’t mandated by the government. We’re not going to let anybody fall through the cracks.
