Not surprised at all the way the media reported this. Can you imagine how the media especially Nick Ferrari would have covered this had it been the traffic warden against Muslims in Whitechapel? Seems like a certain group of people in this country cannot be criticised no matter what they do.
01/19/2017 at 15:14
It's quite clear that the man was being intimidated by the mob and was trying to get away.
Any injuries are the responsibility of the mob, they are the ones who should have been arrested.

I doubt if the attack was random, not an excuse granted, but it would be hard in my mind to see such brutal actions for just the sake of it
01/19/2017 at 13:34
It has nothing to do with race (the crime itself might have been a racist attack, who knows), but everything to do with class and upbringing. It just so happens that a lot of black people are from deprived areas like this and are more likely to be involved in disgusting crimes like this.

Nobody made Lily Allen a spokesperson for the whole of the UK and I found it insulting she took it upon herself to apologise for something that isn't our doing
They refused asylum in many countries, asylum is very clear, you don't choose where you go , you go to the nearest safe country
That is international LAW , not our doing, the LAW
You go to the first safe country
01/19/2017 at 12:13
To those who shout "remoaner" at anyone who is critical of brexit know this - you are likely the same people who don't like being called racist just because you are talking about immigration. You need to listen to those who disagree in the same way that you want to be listened to. We will remain a divided nation until we all come out of out ideological trenches and really talk to each other.
01/19/2017 at 12:55
I'm not a fan of Lily Allen, but she was perfectly within her rights to apologise for the UK's lack of tolerance and compassion shown to to refugees and asylum seekers. I myself frequently apologise to friends abroad on behalf of the UK for the racist slurs dispensed by people like Farage and others and reassure them that these bigots do not represent the British people at large who are some of the most compassionate and tolerant people on the planet.

The idea that young people should work for free and accept it, in a country where affordable housing doesn't exist, the rent is astronomical and the prices for food and gas are amongst the highest on the continent, is completely abhorrent.
01/19/2017 at 10:27
I feel that if it is done as work experience (I.e. For school and university students) then it is acceptable. If the intern is not in full-time education then they should at the very least be paid the apprenticeship wage.
01/19/2017 at 10:32
Unpaid internships are a barrier to social mobility. The large number of unpaid internships in London particularly disadvantage people who live elsewhere in the country and don't have family or friends in the South East. This means we don't make best use of the talent within the country.

I do not like Trumps policies on :guns, health care, wanting to prevent Muslims entering the USA and his comments that he made about woman but he won the election (if not by the regulatory college) and I think Obama needs to treat him more respectfully because of the office that he is soon to hold.I also think that the Democrats need to get a grip and think about why they lost. They got complacent and did not visit states that they thought they had in the bag!

Funny that Farage doesn't seem to realise that the UK does not have "a different legal system" from Europe, but 3 legal systems, which vary from the many different European legal systems to quite different degrees. It is this kind of blinkered and jingoistic ignorance which led to the Brexit shambles perpetuated by politicians too lazy and prejudiced to bother informing themselves of fairly basic facts regarding either the UK or the EU.

its simple realy if you assault someone then your right to use the nhs should be removed and you made to pay for any future treatment...nhs staff may make occasional mistakes , anyone would the pressure they are under but overall they do a brilliant job and no one deserves to be assaulted for doing their job and providing essential services..

I can tell you i have been impressed with some parents who have managed to refrain punching some doctors (its usually doctors). Maybe some more time should be looked into the practises of the NHS and how its staff treats people. I think until somebody endangers your childs life through sheer ignorance and refusal to listen you should refrain from judging whether or not you would thump said person

The system was working albeit imperfectly. We were attributing over a quarter of our GDP to it. That's an awful lot of money, businesses, and British families' economic prosperity under threat.
So you have to ask yourself; what were people thinking? Who wins?
The answer is frustrating. Billionaires like Murdoch, Barclay, Rothermere who all happen to own the media you (and I rarely) read will profit when we become a tax haven. They win, it's doubtful we will too.

What Farage doesn't realise is that Trump is well known for changing his mind more than once in one day. He also suffers from selective amnesia. There is no way a trade deal can be agreed in 90 days. Trump will dictate the terms on a 'like it or lump it' basis. Farage is nothing more than a puppet.

Thatcher realised where the fascist EU was going so wanted us to get out in her final term. Do your research OBrien, you absolute walloper
yesterday at 11:02
Yes she invented the single market, but not the federal European and anti-democratic failed economic state the EU has become. She would have run a mile from that. We have reconciled ourselves to understand we cannot have the single market without being part of the monstrosity the EU has become and deteriating into both socially and economically. It's a house of cards waiting to collapse.
O'Brien, once again, is being deliberately disingenuous with the detail, or just sinister in avoiding it.

George Soros made $1,000,000,000 by slaughtering our £ in 1992 (this is a Hillary supporter who was also against Brexit). He has recently been reported to have lost around the same figure since Trump was elected, since he has been short US markets thinking Trump would have a negative effect. The pound took flight and soared from 1.21 dollars 1.23 to the dollar.
It is with those two cents that we'll build a new British Empire. We're going to use that money to throw out all the immigrants, start WW3, beat the Germans single-handedly in spitfires with Quantum Core engines, then sail into the stars to build a glorious, immigrant-free British Star Empire.
This was Teresa May's Brexit plan all along.
