It was an extra special Thursday Nurse Day when most of our nurses from ACT, NSW and QLD gathered together in Sydney last week. This is just a few of the nearly 60 nurses who made up such an amazing sea of pink!

(6/6) "I got a call from Emily at work telling me that she was 5 weeks pregnant with their second child, I was so happy I just burst into tears right there. Having another child meant the world to Emily and Andrew; I just remember thinking itโ€™s rare moments like these that make my job so unique."

(5/6) "Itโ€™s about being there - in hospital, at home, in their community - for my patient and her or his family. Breast cancer affects more than just the individual and I can provide consistent support across their physical, psychological and emotional needs. It was very hard, watching Emily and Andrew grapple with the idea that they may never have another child."

(4/6) "Bec provided incredible support. The help with the physical and emotional impact of treatment was amazing, but by far the most valuable was her understanding of how this would impact the whole family, and how she helped not only me but Andrew cope."

(3/6) While I was being treated for cancer, the drugs in my body meant that it wasnโ€™t safe for me to touch Indi, who was still only a baby. I would listen as she cried and cried from the next room, and I would cry with her, because all I wanted was to hold her close, and tell her everything would be alright. When I went in to hospital for surgery, for three whole months, I couldnโ€™t even keep...

(2/6) "I was only 25 when I was diagnosed. The doctors told me that it would be unlikely for me to conceive again. I hit rock bottom. Those first few months were the hardest for Andrew and I. We wanted so badly to grow our family."

(1/6) "Our worlds were turned upside down when I was diagnosed with breast cancer; Indiana was just 10 months old. I was starting to plan my return to work, so in addition to coming to terms with being told I had breast cancer, there were a lot of other pressures on the family - finances, child care, support for me, working out what I needed, and how my treatment would impact not only me but...

Being married to an Aussie cricketer is an amazing life, but it can also get extremely lonely. Being from the UK I found it incredibly difficult after having our first daughter Olivia as I had no family to support me whilst Mike was touring. My Mum Elaine gave up her life in the UK to move to Australia to support our new little family โ€“ her choice was Manchester or Manly so not too difficult a...
