Congratulations, Gladys.

You've got this.
Thank you, NSW.

It has been an honour.
In my maiden speech in 2007, I said I was entering politics to make a difference in people’s lives - not to become another career politician.

After ten years in politics - three as Treasurer and three as Premier - I am making good on that pledge and announcing my retirement from public office.

A decade ago, NSW was a very different place. It was an economic basket case. Our hospitals and...

In huge news for the Baird household, 2017 will be the year I walk my eldest daughter down the aisle.

It feels as if only yesterday I was cradling Laura in my arms. A reminder for all that time as a parent just goes too quickly, and every day is one to savour. We love you Laura and are so thrilled for you both!

Levi will make a wonderful addition to our family and, as my son said, he...

Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas! May your day be full of celebration, hope... and silly hats.
Light rail in the CBD took another big step forward this week.

Everywhere you look, we're getting on with rebuilding NSW.
2016 has been a big year for NSW… from digging Australia’s longest rail tunnels to opening 9 new hospitals, we’ve been working hard to rebuild NSW.

Here are a few of my personal highlights from 2016.
6 years ago I stood on an empty lot of land, wearing a questionable tie, and promised a new Northern Beaches Hospital. Take a look at it now.

Just this year, we've opened 9 new/upgraded hospitals. And there's plenty more to come.
It will have the steepest stands in Australia and be one of the best venues in the world to watch football.

Today we announce we've chosen the contractor to design and build Parramatta's new stadium. And it will open in early 2019. ⚽

Helloooo summer!
Friday fun fact: We're digging so many tunnels for new roads, we need 53 of these big beasts to get the job done.
Today we started tunnelling for the new M5.

8 things to know about it:

✅ 16 roadheaders will be in action, each digging through enough rock to fill an Olympic size swimming pool every week

✅ It’s a $4.3 billion project that will stretch from St Peters to Beverly Hills.

✅ 9km of twin underground tunnels

✅ Travel times slashed by up to 30 minutes

✅ M5 East travel times halved during...

Huge news today: We are spending $550 million to upgrade Nepean Hospital.

It will mean:
* A new and expanded Emergency Department
* At least 12 new operating theatres

The Queen of the Baird house hosted Queen Rania of Jordan in Sydney today.
Richmond Road Upgrade: Finished.

With 70,000 new homes being built in the area, we fast-tracked it under our Housing Acceleration Fund, meaning it was finished four years ahead of time.

Oh, and it came in on budget.
Today we opened our NINTH new/upgraded hospital for the year. Was great to visit Lismore to see the amazing facility.

What were the other 8? Tamworth, Dubbo, Parkes, Forbes, Bega, Kempsey, Byron and Blacktown. And there's plenty more to come, because we're just warming up.
Big announcement today: A new underground metro railway from Parramatta to the CBD will be the next major public transport project we undertake in NSW.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Tonight, the Opera House has been lit up with red poppies to honour those who have served our nation.

Lest we forget.
Deng is living proof of what people can achieve when given the opportunity.

He represents the very best of what makes Australia great, and has channelled his success into helping hundreds of people in NSW.

It was an honour to, last night, name him the NSW Australian of the Year.
