So, in 2014 he was charged for guns and cocaine trafficking, and yet he was roaming our streets FREE, killing 2people and injuring another not even 3 years later!? .....
This is what fails US the MOST as citizens - our POOR juridical system where heavy drug dealers, sex offenders and murderers are let out walking our streets shortly after being jailed!!
Change the court system to keep our streets safer!!!!!
07/27/2017 at 13:09
If that is the case, how do you explain all the young adults that wake up each morning to go to school and their jobs.
As their parent, you are responsible for knowing who they are "hanging out with" and controlling the negative.
People need to take accountability for themselves and their children.
07/27/2017 at 13:19
My brothers, sister and I all grew up in the very same "public housing projects" that his family is blaming and we are all very successful at this point in our lives. He has nobody to blame but himself for the decisions he made as an adult. Stop looking for excuses and others to blame!

Don't ever put yourself in this position "In the early morning hours of May 21, a 19-year-old Ottawa woman agreed to meet a man she had contacted on the dating app Tinder in an apartment downtown."
07/27/2017 at 12:21
This woman was raped, she's got two men forcing themselves on her, they were aggressive, suppose she had screamed no and stop, what if they gagged her or chocked her to death after? These are the scenarios victims have to think about. Its about survival, its about getting out. How dare these officers disregard her. Not to long ago women were told "if you are beibg raped let it happen and report it later" only recently did people start saying "no, fight, fight as hard as you can". I am so disgusted to hear this, and people in the comments acting like they've never made a bad judgement call before. Shame on you all.
07/27/2017 at 12:57
Hey Ottawa Citizen! Are you stupid? I know the answer to that.
How about changing the tone and telling young women to not blindly meet men in appartments?!

Fantastic news! Supervised injection services save lives by reducing overdoses and the spread of disease. If you take a look at the research, supervised injection sites are safe. Public drug use and drug litter is reduced. Plus, the sites do not contribute to increased crime. On top of all this, the people who come in to use the supervised injection service get connected to other health and social services. Congratulations to everyone who worked so tirelessly to bring this to Ottawa!

Patrick Keefe, they sure are not first class citizens. If you are dumb enough to use drugs in the first place or to use dirty needles or leave your used needles laying around then you are dumb enough to die. There are better people to help in this country than the waste cases.

What will that do to reduce addiction? They're will actually be more drug user as people on the line will think drugs are now safe and will start using them.

The Chinese government is anti-democratic, against free speech and does not tolerate any dissent.
The USA is a free, democratic society. In fact the power of the USA allows you to criticize it.
There is no equivalence between the Chinese government and the USA.

The Chinese government has been implicated repeatedly for prosecuting, the group Falun Gong and others torturing them, killing some of them and stealing their organs for transplant . Some of those responsible have been held to account and the present government has ordered the military police to get out of the hospital business (Ref The Epoch Times) as they were the conduit of organs from prisons to hospitals The Chinese government must reveal the atrocities that have been committed and what action it is taking to hold those responsible for those atrocities. Trade agreements with such a barbaric government must come with our eyes open. If they treat their own with such disregard how will they conduct business and not abuse others using the same immoral values.

Yes! Hell even healthy adults should be tested on driving skills every few years. Its the most dangerous thing we all do on a daily basis and we only have to pass a few easy tests to be able to do it. Insane.
A senior (or anyone) could be fine today, then suffer a minor stroke, or series of strokes, the next day. That stroke could leave them feeling a little weak, but still well enough to drive, not realizing that some area of judgement or motor control is seriously affected.
Driver's tests, medical exams, and vision tests are a great idea, but they only tell us how the person is that day, not what they will be able to do a year from then.
Perhaps, like the interlocks for impaired drivers, there should be interlocks that require the driver to solve a puzzle before operating the vehicle?
Yes! My Dad is 71 and really didn't take any formal test to get his license. When I was learning how to drive in Montreal I was surprised at how many rules and regulations he wasn't aware of. So if this generation coming up is like my father then most definitely yes.
