Give a man a fish and he’ll feed himself for a day. Give him a corporate to run, access to a tax haven and influence over lawmakers, and he’ll make billions in profits.

And what about women? They often find themselves at the bottom of the pile – in fact, at the current rate it will take 170 years for women to be paid the same as men.

The world’s 8 richest people own the same wealth as the poorest half of humanity. Yet one in nine people still go to bed hungry every night.

Please share this to demand an economy that works for everyone, not just the privileged few.

Inequality is immorally low wages, inhumane working conditions, and even a lack of clean water, education and healthcare – while the world’s 8 richest people have a combined wealth the same as the poorest 3.6 billion people’s.
It doesn’t have to be this way. We can end poverty by creating an economy that works for everyone, not just the fortunate few: [ Oxf.am Link ]

Obscene: 1 in 10 people survive on less than $2 a day. Meanwhile, the world’s 8 richest people – so few they’d all fit in a golf buggy – have a combined wealth the same as the poorest 3.6 billion people’s. Billionaires have done very well in an economic system that favors the few and leaves too many others behind.

It doesn’t have to be this way. We can choose a future where governments act...

By refusing to stop arms exports to Saudi Arabia, the British government is fuelling the crisis in Yemen. It’s illegal because we’re crossing the red line established by the Arms Trade Treaty. It’s immoral because 1.5 million children in Yemen face starvation. And it’s incoherent because, as one arm of government fuels this war, another is sending aid to pick up the pieces. It’s got to stop....

Congrats to Ilhan Omar, the first female Muslim and Somali-American legislator in the US.

"My election win offers a counter-narrative to the bigotry in the world," Omar told People. "This is a land of immigrants, and most come here for opportunity, a second chance. It's our time to fight for the America we know we can have."
