So let me get this straight... he decided to carry out this attack because he felt unsafe as a Muslim in America.... So what exactly did running Americans down with his car then stabbing them randomly do to ensure future tolerance and acceptance of Muslims in America? The only thing these continued attacks accomplish is further skepticism and distrust of Muslims... you have only escalated the problem moron...

Why always people talk about Muslims are unsafe in USA? I don't think this is true. If they can live their with all rights freely, why they are unsafe? And if it was his motive like he felt unsafe, what changes did he make except making Muslims issue worse?

It was clearly a case of terrorism. A blind person can see that.

Being a retired Law Enforcement Officer for 30 years I retired to Florida and since I've been down here I have had the Opportunity to assist on two occasions Police Officers who were in need of assistance. On both occasions there was no hesitation to get involved, it becomes part of you life and never leaves to support the Thin Blue Line

"End of watch" doesn't really mean end of watch. It just means you don't get paid any more and you don't have to chase the runners. :)

First and foremost, we must continually educate the public that cops are not trained to "kill" — they are trained to stop a threat of death or great bodily harm to themselves or another person.
How to explain to the public why cops don't shoot to wound

I'm a civilian, and no explanation is necessary. Lethal force warrants lethal force, and I hope that none of you "shoot to wound." Do what you have to do, and go home to your families.
12/03/2016 at 04:16
People watching TV don't want to realize the shows are fictional. They probably have never fired a round at any target much less a moving target. They don't want to face the fact that the hand-arm-leg shots are unrealistic because that would interfere with their unrealistic thinking.
12/03/2016 at 04:12
I am old and retired. I was taught shoot to kill. Now the terms are shoot to stop the threat. I actually think that is an improvement of what I was taught. I wish none of us had to even worry about shooting. But that is just a wish.

Ain't no way I can support him on this shooting. I stand by my fellow officers all the time, but not on this one. He was wrong. He murdered that guy.
12/03/2016 at 03:38
The video didn't tell the whole story. I wouldn't convict in this case, either. Unless you hear the evidence in that courtroom, you don't know this case like you think you do. Facebook lynch mobs are just as bad as the "dirty cops" they claim to be lynching.

Ru kidding me people this is cold blooded murder!! This cop and I say that loosely should be locked up for life. The victim was running away and was unarmed cmon people this cop is ruining it for all of us that put on the uniform everyday and do the right thing !!!

A step up from scooters I suppose...but what about some leg room for the officers? Hate to spend a shift in these vehicles.
12/03/2016 at 06:40
It a more insulated option than the scooters that if I remember was just metal with little to no insulation for the winter and air conditioning in the summer other than just a fan if I recall my days of the scooters.

I would flee from this. I'm not getting caught dead being pulled over by a smart car lol.

I don't like the idea behind this. It seems to be a sign that we are moving away from believing in our officers and into an area that says, "if it didn't happen on camera - it didn't happen". That is dangerous.

Thankfully the young police officer after a long rehab and several surgeries made it back to active duty. The drunk driving woman deserves the 13 year sentence for what she did including the additional collision in the story. In all likelihood the police officer will suffer from pain for the remainder of life. That seems to be the way broken bones haunt us.

I hope he fully recovers. Now to Illinois State Patrol please start properly training your troopers on passenger side approaches! Officer safety guys! Drivers side is the danger side.

We need to revamp the "pulling over" system, and employ a European style. The offender follows the police car off the highway at the next exit, for everyone's safety. It will put a pinch on the revenue stream, since each stop now takes more time and distance, but if it's really about officer safety, they won't mind. Something tells me the politicians relying on this revenue stream, don't care about anybody's safety.

People: They are NOT being awarded the Military's Purple Heart. They receive an award which is among the same merit, however is distinctly different. Often times they are medals, but they can also be bars or ribbons which are worn as part of the uniform. The "designs" differ greatly by each agency, and usually are specific to that agency, but not always.
I suspect that Detroit awards a separate and distinct award for wounded/killed public safety that shares a name with the military award.
Sort of like how bars, oak leaves, eagles, and stars are universal rank emblems, or how some departments issue the diver or air assault badge for their equivalent special operations types, or how many nations award a medal called "Distinguished Flying Cross."
My heart goes out to my brothers in blue and their families, but the Purple Heart is not an appropriate decoration.
It is a military honor for wounds received in combat. Strictly.

I believe most people quietly respect the police. The problem is when the media and groups like BLM start trashing us the people remain quiet and won't speak up for us publicly for fear of being called a racist. Hopefully when President ElectTrump takes office that attitude will change and people will be more open to praising the police in public.

Historically being "known" or "not known" by the FBI means something close to nothing when it comes to terrorists. Local police know how to deal with them on the ground. Once ICE has their hands untied in January, maybe we can keep more of them from getting here in the first place.
