#TBT to 1966: The shipyard that started out as Southwest Shipbuilding in 1917 was purchased by Bethlehem Shipbuilding in 1922. During World War II, the shipyard built 23 destroyers and three destroyer minelayers for the United States Navy.

#TBT to Los Angeles Fire Department's first purpose-built fire boat, Fire Boat No. 1, commissioned August 1, 1919. The fire boat was later rechristened the Archibald J. Eley in 1965.
