The Camellias have flowered! These early-blooming shrubs are adding a bit of color to @Prospect_Park in Carmen’s Garden, which is on the Park’s West side in front of the Litchfield Villa. Happy Valentine's Day! How will you be celebrating? A walk in Prospect Park, or perhaps a turn on the rink at the LeFrak Center at Lakeside? Linus Ly had the romantic notion to lead a run with the Prospect Park Track Club, using the route to spell out the word, 'LOVE' around the perimeter of the Park. Ly reports that the run came out to be between eight and ten miles. Thanks, Linus!

Today's post is in honor of Abraham Lincoln's birthday. Did you know that Prospect Park was home to the first likeness of Lincoln in any city? Two years after his assassination, sculptor Henry Kirke Brown presented the life-sized monument to the Park, which was installed in Grand Army Plaza in 1869.
