New recommendations are now in place to help prevent peanut allergy in children. The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases now recommend introducing infants to peanut-containing food as early as four months of age. Dr. Larry Eichenfield, chief of pediatric dermatology at Rady Children’s was part of the national panel of experts who voted to make the national change.
