It is important we have a debate in our country between socialism and communism and America and capitalism. One of the extraordinary things about our country is just two years ago in 2014, we gave away $400 billion privately, not the government, individually through churches and charities. We are an incredibly compassionate society.
We're told they're doing this just so they can get rid of Obamacare, and that's true. Well we could have done both. We could have introduced a budget that actually leads to balance, is fiscally conservative and repeals Obamacare.
I am taking this stand — I will not vote for any budget that doesn’t have a plan to balance, regardless of what is attached to it and I’m calling on other conservatives in the Senate to take the same stand. Let’s repeal Obamacare, and let’s do it with a budget that leads us to balance in the near term.
