Diamond Harbour’s historic Stoddart Cottage – birthplace of one of New Zealand’s foremost painters and shipped to NZ from Australia in 1861 reopened yesterday to the public after extensive earthquake repairs and restoration.
The first 20 terraced homes are under construction in the East Frame and are expected to be ready in May 2018
The second and third lot of land will soon also be released by Otakaro which will see around 200 homes in the East Frame constructed by the middle of 2019.
All up there is expected to be about 900 homes in the east frame.
A 12 kilometre transitional trail along the banks of the Ōtākaro/Avon River for walking, running or cycling will open in stages from spring. Work to prepare the Avon Trail started last week. The trail goes from Barbadoes Street to Pages Road in New Brighton. The full trail is expected to open in early 2018.
