A C-17 Globemaster III from 99 Squadron, based at RAF Brize Norton, has been assisting French counter-insurgency operations in sub-Saharan Africa. The RAF makes quarterly runs to the region to help supply French forces. On this occasion the load included an armoured personnel vehicle. In this video, a French Officer explains how the British heavy-lift capability helps their operations.

On 14 February a pair of Royal Air Force multi-role Typhoon aircraft struck a Daesh headquarters in Iraq.

With Iraqi forces keeping close watch from across the Tigris, Typhoons conducted a highly accurate attack late at night against the headquarters on the north-western outskirts of Mosul. Two Paveway IV precision guided munitions demolished the target.

RAF Akrotiri’s 84 Squadron have been celebrating their 100 years of service today.

Last Friday morning an RAF C130J Hercules aircraft from RAF Brize Norton launched to help coordinate the rescue operations of the racing yacht Clyde Challenger in the North Atlantic.
