My new Transport for London business plan sets out an ambitious and wide-reaching programme that allows us to both freeze TfL fares, and invest record amounts to build a modern and affordable transport system.

Rail passengers across south London and the wider commuter belt are understandably furious after the Government broke its promise to make suburban rail services more frequent, reliable and affordable by giving control of commuter lines to Transport for London. I am on their side.

Delighted to be here at the Tate to announce the winner of the #IlluminatedRiver competition. We saw an incredible response to this unique competition, showing that #LondonIsOpen and that our city continues to inspire creatives from around the globe. There were some spectacular ideas, and I can’t wait to see the winning design - ‘Current’ by Leo Villareal & LDS Architects light up the Thames.

Wonderful to welcome friends from across London’s Jewish community to City Hall tonight for an early reception to celebrate Chanukah. The contribution made by the Jewish community to our city is a shining example of London at its best, and shows what can be achieved when London is open – open to all cultures and open to people from all backgrounds. Chanukah sameach!

Londoners are understandably furious after the government broke their promise to devolve services to Transport for London and make commuter rail services more frequent, reliable and affordable. As Mayor, I'm calling on commuters, businesses & politicians to join me in calling for the government to back rail devolution for Southeastern services.

Today I've announced a £200 million investment in step-free access across our city, which will see over one hundred stations have step-free access. From Harrow to Havering, Londoners across our city will benefit from these ambitious plans. Work will soon begin at Newbury Park and Harrow on the Hill - which together see 15 million journeys every year.
