A patient of mine told me that he had a heart transplant and craves Cajun food now, whereas before he never had.
The man he received the heart from was from Louisiana... He thought it more than mere coincidence.

I'm more of the opinion (this is just an opinion) that someone darn near dying and being brought from the brink of it probably has a different outlook on a great many things.

I think anyone receiving a life saving transplant may walk away with a new outlook on things. Not magic.

Maybe the researchers faces look like chimpanzee asses, but not one human I know remotely looks like that. The diagrams aren't even close. If this is "science" no wonder people actually buy into man made global warming.

Theoretically, they'll do that off your phone rather than camera identification. So if you just walked in with no technology on you, you'd be able to walk out with it not charging you as it doesn't know who you are

As a high school science teacher, if you think I'm wasting my budget to buy those fancy things and then spend hours upon hours after school in order to do this, yeah no. I wish. But not really. This may have been done in a high school, but it was overseen by college.

Brilliant! Shame about the legal/corporate bit, but Epic about the drug itself.
And a bit of future karma, and some hope too!

No numbers on how efficient this is. How much energy from the laser do the sails absorb and how much energy is required to power the laser. Are we going to need to double earth's global energy production for a week to accelerate a space vehicle?

You know, this takes what should remain in the realm of private thought and thrusts it out into public discourse where it doesn't belong. We all have preferences, it's part of being human. Not everything needs to be shared.

Her math is flawed. Because if A picks B, then B and C know that A didn't pick A. B then picks, and if he gets C, then he knows A didn't pick C and therefore A must have picked B. Anonymity broken by the second pick, despite nobody seeing the pick of another.

I understand where the writer is coming from, but he's setting the bar insanely high. He's essentially looking for the messiah of science, someone who's infallible. As an atheist I sometimes get bothered when he's soft on religion, but I understand WHY he does it. You'll never win people over by insulting them or being condescending. He's a master of walking that line.
He has a good sense of humor which infuse humor in his scientific tweets. I found nothing wrong in it. He's the best spokesman in Astrophysics as his explanations are simplified yet logical.
I think you are meant to outgrow Neil, in a way. He is doing what he meant to do -draw in the masses. From there, the ones who are meant to continue deeper into space studies will do so through various means. And there are plenty of 'em. In the meantime those who wish to stay lite about their interests in space can continue to be entertained by Neil where he continues to act as a gateway to draw in more people who wouldn't normally have gone out of their way to explore astronomy and astrophysics.

But, to be honest, I'd try about anything right now, it can hardly make me worse.

Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Heres Tom with the Weather.

Evolving a new specie - ok, (there was never doubt for that in my mind). Most christians don't really think there was EVERY species on the Noah's ark. There were kinds. Species can evolve (micro evolution) - which Darwin did proove. But it is fallacy of composition to conclude that evolution of new kinds is possible if evolution of species is.

It turns out, without viruses attacking us and symbiosis of different strains of bacteria, we never would have became human, or evolved into what we are today. We aren't individuals to begin with, so why do we seperate ourselves from all other organisims? We are not a special creation, nothing makes us different at all.

America's "gluten allergy" comes from the producers spraying the harvest with Roundup just before reaping. As that spraying is an America-only process, foreign products don't cause the same "allergy".

He's not "stinking wealthy". He earned it. It's very sad, however, that idiotic pop stars with less than half his intelligence rake in ten times more wealth. Humanity has misplaced priorities.

$20 million isn't "stinking wealthy". Its not bad, but far from the 1% category.

Brain Scans on Mormons Show Religion Has a Similar Effect to Taking Drugs

Being non-mormon living in Utah, I feel this research would find the same result on any individual devoted to their religion. I'm not clear if U of U was trying to make a point that LDS religion is greater than Christian or non-Christian religion's or making a demonstration of how the brain reacts to scripture, video, and audible variables? A true study would have two variables; a dependent and independent.
I didn't read any claim that Mormonism was singled out, I rather read it that Religion has the same effect as drugs.
They should definitely trial it with other religions, but I think we all know what the result would be.
