This day in Sex Pistols history... March 25th 1977. Today would have been the original release of 'God Save The Queen' on A&M records had the label not sacked the Pistols after only one week.

25,000 copies of the single had already been pressed but were ordered to be destroyed. However, a handful survive and are now highly valuable.

To celebrate Record Store Day 2017 on April 22nd, Universal Music will be releasing 'God Save Sex Pistols' vinyl LP.

'God Save Sex Pistols' was the original version of the Sex Pistols album - before it was 'Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols' - and included slightly different tracks and completely different artwork.

This day in Sex Pistols history... March 16th 1977. The Sex Pistols are sacked by A&M Records after only 7 days. To announce the A&M deal the band staged a signing outside Buckingham Palace. However, after cold feet from A&M - and a drunken celebration at the A&M offices - the band soon found themselves without a record deal yet again. Finding themselves £75,000 richer in the process.
This day in Sex Pistols history... March 10th 1977. The Sex Pistols stage a signing ceremony for A&M Records outside Buckingham Palace under the noses of the police and establishment. It is announced that the first single for the label will be 'God Save The Queen' to be released March 25th. However, the band are sacked from the label after only one week.

This day in Sex Pistols history... February 28th 1977. It is officially announced to the press that original Pistols bass player Glen Matlock has left the group to be replaced by Sid Vicious.

Sid had been rehearsing with the band for several weeks and had already taken part in a radio interview, along with Johnny Rotten, with DJ Rodney Bingenheimer on February 13th 1977.

This day in Sex Pistols history... February 24th 2006. The Sex Pistols announce they will not be attending the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for their induction.

John Lydon writes a handwritten note which is faxed to the HOF and posted on the Pistols thefilthandthefury.co.uk website. "we are not your monkeys…"

This day in Sex Pistols history... February 11th 2000. The Sex Pistols documentary film 'The Filth and Fury' has its European premiere at the Berlin Festival in Germany.

The film had its official premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2000.
