We're LIVE for a performance of Home: Shelter Stories Live in London at The Arcola Theatre.

The characters have been developed from stories told by people helped by Shelter and their families, local residents and those who work in housing.

This is everyone’s story, and no one’s story.

In 1966 we took out an advert in The Times and The Sunday Times to highlight the crisis facing Britain's homeless children.
The slums of fifty years ago may have gone, but sadly now we face a major housing crisis of a different kind.

Today Shelter is 50, but there’s nothing golden about this anniversary, as although we’ve accomplished a lot since 1966, there’s still much more to do.
We couldn't have achieved all that we have without your support. So we've spent the day meeting new supporters, and thanking our existing ones.

'Shelter’s founding shone a light on hidden homelessness in the 60s’ slums. But while those troubled times have faded into memory, 50 years on, a modern-day housing crisis is tightening its grip on our country'.

More than 250,000 people in England are homeless, says Shelter

We’ve achieved a lot since 1966, but today we face a different housing crisis to that of 50 years ago. We won’t stop until everyone has a safe, secure, affordable home – however long that takes.
