Snow in the Sahara Desert less than a week ago! From NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration : Snow on the edge of the Sahara Desert in Africa is rare, yet on December 19, snow fell & was seen by our satellites: [ Go.nasa.gov Link ]
It looks like the cold front has made landfall in the Western Cape, bringing with it some much needed moisture to the area. We are still not expecting any snow, despite the colder weather. The front is moving fast, and should pass during the day tomorrow.
Looks like a nice little cold front is going to impact the South Western Cape on Friday(23rd December). Some rain is expected, and with the freezing level dropping down to 2000m overnight, we certainly can't rule out the possibility of some snow!! The front will also impact areas of the Eastern Cape early on Saturday morning, and once again, we can't rule out the possibility of some light snow...

If it does snow, it is likely to be light, ...

A glimpse of the snow through the trees at the beautiful Cathedral Peak Hotel
We have been getting some unexpected heavy falls of snow for October, and although we have seen it coming every time, we really didn't think that we would get as much as we have! It is great for drought relief though, so we must not complain. We are seeing some more snow on the way too - possible light snow for some areas of the WC on Thursday evening. The freezing level is going to drop down...
