What would be the best part of being Vulcan?

Would you guys quit it with the "Vulcans have no emotions" thing? Yes they do. They take extreme care to suppress them due to the fact that Vulcans actually feel MORE emotion than humans do, and when they don't keep a tight leash on them, bad things tend to happen. They speak multiple times throughout the franchise of how violent and chaotic Vulcan society was before they chose to regulate themselves and prioritize logic over emotion.
Not allowing emotions to dictate their every aspects of life. Keep it in check and allow logic to prevail in everyday aspects of life.
Still emotional but logic dictates the outcome.
The rest about welcome our bonuses!

I'd get to be a space elf, what's not to love? XD;;
(Best part I suppose would be being able to manipulate those silly humans into doing my dirty work for me, after all, I wouldn't be able to dirty my hands, when dealing with the Klingons and Romulans... geez).

I remember watching this as a kid (10) , going out and getting the salt peter and made my own gunpowder. Now I'd probably be arrested as a terrorist or crazy bomb maker??

Every time I see a reference to the Gorn I think of the Mythbusters episode that tested Kirk's homemade cannon.

At the NJ convention last year, there was a little toddler-age girl dressed as the Gorn (I'm pretty sure it was a dinosaur costume, but it looked very similar). So cute!

It's sad, but she died over 2 years ago. Or is this a new feature, looking back and departed stars?
She was part of the Star Trek Universe, She will be missed. Rest In Peace, Lois.

That is so sad to hear. She is a part of Star Trek history and won't be forgotten. :-(

Whatever crap I can conjure up with the food replicator. So, probably ramen noodle, because that's all I know from my college years.

large beef burgers. Worf would love it, will and geordi would love it too. Everyone would have a good laugh watching troi and crusher trying to fit them in their mouths and picard would be mildly flustered at the idea of eating with his hands but get good and stuck in because that's what a good captain does, leads by example. :)

A whole lot of steaks using my marinade. McCormick's bourbon and brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, bacon salt, cilantro, and Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey.

oh no.. .they are just SO ugly lol they are okay for a couple car figurines lol but i wouldn't collect those, waste of money collecting the entire set, the "character specific pieces" you are just given the exact same figure as the regular one, i think they should just cut out the regular ones and just do the character specific piece ones.
01/18/2017 at 22:00
So this means you have to just keep buying them until you actually get a full collection? Not sure I'd be up for doing that.

I can see from the posts so far that the hate has begun. I for one am happy with this choice. I think he will make great Sarek.
01/18/2017 at 18:14
Casting no problem! The problem is way your forced to watch Discovery! A pay service with commercials and released once a week! I can understand this if it was on a CBS station and not a pay service. Why does only the U.S. And Canada have to pay where everywhere else gets it on Netflix? Just put it on Netflix for everyone and release the whole season!!! Life long trek fan who for the 1st time will not be supporting this!!!
01/18/2017 at 18:30
I'm fearing Discovery will be a missed opportunity. I'm hoping this series will be good but I wish they'd do it in the 25th century so it can establish it's own path instead of fitting around other time lines.

What year did Captain Kirk finally retire?
422 likes - 94 comments
01/18/2017 at 01:55
In the prime timeline he stepped down as Captain of The Enterprise (-A) in 2293. He was still in reserve duty status (hence why he, Scotty and Checkov were in uniform) when he was presumed K.I.A. the next year saving the Enterprise-B. Though according to canon he never actually retired fully.
TBD in the new timeline.
01/18/2017 at 07:30
It was around 2293-2294. But of course he fought alongside Picard after 78 years in the Nexus. Spent most of his life on the bridge and died under one 😂

There's like a 7 year gap between Voyage Home and Undiscovered Country (I do not count that other one) and I often wonder what he did then. I think it's more or less agreed he took the Enterprise-A on a 5 year mission.

Fantastic actor. His performance in Shawshank was chilling.
01/18/2017 at 00:49
the only thing that pops into my head seeing Bob Gunton is: "I like to think the one thing going through his mind 'other than that bullet' was how could a guy like Andy Dufrene manage to outsmart him" he was perfect in that role, hell they all were. But i think Clancy Brown was my favorite douche nozzle of that movie. :D
01/18/2017 at 16:30
I want to know if, after he was proven right and the cardassians attacked, if he was given his command back. Surely they were in need of experienced captains. I probably would have collected more data before attacking had I been in his shoes, but I don't think he was completely wrong.

The insinuation of the tribble meme is most illogical, because it's alluding to coitus when that is impossible for tribbles when they are hermaphroditic, that is reproducing without intercourse!

See, I totally thought the Tribble one was great. "Let's eat everything in sight, make mischief, make each other feel calm and peaceful with our noises of contentment, all without feeling obligated to have sex."

Just caught The Search for Spock again today on cable. Directed by Nimoy - great last scene - "Your name...is Jim!" Also very touching scene, right in the feels, after Kirk tries to shoo the crew off the stolen Enterprise and Sulu's deadpan response: "What course, Admiral?" Love that sometimes underrated film

what a blessing the world got to get a glimpse of the man Leonard Nimoy. there was so much we didn't know or see but in our hearts we knew he was a generous, kind, compassionate person.

I remember when this was brand new. I used to record each episode on my VCR, editing out the ads while watching. TNG were making movies. DS9 was still on TV. The '90s were certainly the boom years for Star Trek.
01/16/2017 at 14:10
I just finished watching this series again, with my 12 year old daughter this time. It's held up amazingly well over the years. The Doctor or Tuvoc-centric episodes have always been my favorite. The best episode was when the Doctor programmed his ideal family, the ending still gets to me.

I think every guy in america (star trek geeks in particular) liked seeing Jeri Ryan in that silver number she wore at the beginning of season 5.

"Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most.....human." -James T. kirk.
01/15/2017 at 21:37
I don't think people understood the question. I think they chose the character they wanted to represent humanity rather than the one who actually does. But then I suppose Brunt wasn't an option. T'Pol, the EMH and Odo would fit better with their flaws though.
01/16/2017 at 09:19
The point has been utterly missed. Humans are vile, loathsome animals. Data represented the potential of humanity, not the reality of it. You'd need an even blend of all the worst antagonists of Trek to represent humanity accurately. The cult mentality of the Borg, the flippant arrogance of Q, the opportunistic disingenuity and shortsightedness of the Ferengi, and the primitive, thoughtless beasthood of the Klingons, to start with. That's what truly comprises humanity.

A mirror universe version of me would be a black female with long hair who likes super feminine stuff who doesn't need glasses and is smoking hot and listens to classical music and jazz. To me that's pretty much the opposite of a manly white man with short hair who wears glasses, isn't attractive, and listens to Dubstep.
01/15/2017 at 16:57
It would be a good place. You know, where strangers are actually nice and don't troll everyone else on social media and act like jerks. People who don't try to kill everyone else with their cars on the roads. People who actually give a crap about our environment and all the other species. You know, how the world should be instead of what it really is.
