It's 2 years ago today since the release of my last album Hand. Cannot. Erase., how time flies! The album was a major conceptual project involving the creation of a whole back story for the main character through the blog and the most elaborate deluxe edition to date. The album did very well for me, reaching the top 5 in Germany, The Netherlands and Finland, number 13 in the UK and number 38...

A short clip of legendary harmonica player Mark Feltham working on one of my new songs "To the Bone". I've loved Mark's playing ever since hearing his work on albums such as Talk Talk's "Colour of Spring" and "Spirit of Eden" and The The's "Mind Bomb", so it's a real thrill to have him playing on the new album. Filmed by Lasse Hoile.

I'm proud to present a lyric video for a song I wrote for the forthcoming Blackfield V album, also featuring Aviv Geffen, and Tomer Z on drums.

'From 44 to 48' is a song about growing older and letting go of dreams. The album is released across Europe this Friday. Even though I don't really write songs with specific projects in mind as soon as I wrote this one I knew it was for Blackfield.

Towards the end of last year I mixed the new album by my long term friend and partner in no-man, Tim Bowness, a really beautiful record. Lost In The Ghost Light is released on 17th February through Inside Out Music, and features Tim's core band comprising Stephen Bennett (Henry Fool), Colin Edwin (Porcupine Tree), Bruce Soord (The Pineapple Thief), Hux Nettermalm (Paatos) and Andrew Booker...

Some more photos from the studio, things coming along beautifully! Photos of SW, Ninet Tayeb, Adam Holzman, Paul Stacey and assistant Keith Prior, all taken by Lasse Hoile.
Happy new year folks! A short clip of myself and the amazing Ninet Tayeb recording vocals for the song "Pariah" from the new album in progress, written especially for us to record as a duet. Co-producer / engineer Paul Stacey is also in the clip, filmed by Lasse Hoile earlier this week. More studio stuff soon!
Check out this short film documenting the recent India trip, based around the cover version of Prince's "Sign O' the Times" as played as the first encore in Bangalore. Filmed and edited by Lasse Hoile, with audio taken directly from the mixing desk.

Also from India is "from the drum stool" footage of Craig Blundell performing the final section of Ancestral, captured the previous day in Pune....

Recording sessions for the new album started in London last week, with tracking of drums and bass. As you can see we're working hard but having a lot of fun! Craig Blundell on drums, myself and Nick Beggs on bass guitar (and Nick on stick), and the amazing Paul Stacey engineering. Photographs by Lasse Hoile. More updates from the studio soon...
Earlier this year I was very happy to be invited by RUSH to contribute to the 40th anniversary edition of their classic '2112' album, due for release in multiple formats (including a deluxe 3LP/2CD/DVD box set version) on 16th December. My band recorded a version of "The Twilight Zone", partly live at a soundcheck in Linz, Austria, but then with overdubs and final mix completed in the studio....

The forthcoming 9LP vinyl box set "The Delerium Years 1991-93" covers my early solo recordings under the name Porcupine Tree (and follows the box set from earlier this year "The Delerium Years 1994-97" which covered the first band line up era).

Due for release by Kscope in January 2017, artwork by Lasse Hoile.
A fantastic collection of Lasse Hoile's artwork and photography will be exhibited at the Noorderlicht Photography Gallery in Gröningen, Netherlands. The exhibition opens on 10th December 2016, and runs through to 29th January 2017, showcasing almost 80 selected images from the past 16 years, most of which were created for Steven's projects through the years, mostly for Porcupine Tree and SW's...
