When the Renewal team began to remove the rear stage scenery lift in the Joan Sutherland Theatre this week, they discovered an old issue of The Sydney Morning Herald. Dated Saturday July 15, 1972, the newspaper was published a year before the Opera House opened and exactly 45 years ago to this day.

It’s amazing what you find when renovating your House ;)
