Rep. Cindy Burkett (R-Sunnyvale) is laying out HB 200 in the Texas House State Affairs Committee hearing right now. HB 200 would prohibit partial birth abortion in Texas and prohibit the sale and donation of baby body parts from aborted babies in Texas.

Texas Senate Gives Preliminary OK to SB 25 to Ban "Wrongful Birth" Lawsuits

Sen. Brandon Creighton (R-Conroe) is laying out SB 25, to remove the wrongful birth cause of action, in the Texas Senate. Currently in Texas, parents can sue their OBGYN if their OBGYN did not recommend aborting their unborn child with potential disabilities. SB 25 would remove that cause of action so OBGYNs could not be sued if they do not recommend abortion.

"On Wednesday, March 15, the Texas Senate passed its first pro-life bill of the 85th Legislature when it gave final approval to SB 8 ban partial-birth abortion. SB 8 also bans the sale or donation of tissues and organs after abortion and thereby bans research on those tissues and organs. SB 8 passed on a bipartisan 24-6 vote."
