It is with great sadness that we learnt of the passing of Tam Dalyell. Tam has been associated with the National Trust for Scotland since his parents gifted his ancestral home the House of the Binns in 1944. Famously, he is pictured as a kilted schoolboy standing in the background of the handover ceremony.

This violin, which Robert Burns is said to have danced to, has recently been restored to its original condition. The violin is part of the Trust collection at Robert Burns Birthplace Museum. You can hear it being played at the Burns Big Birthday Bash celebrations this Sunday.
