How do we get one of these in Mona Vale connecting to Kitchener Park and another at he bottom of Mona Vale Road near the cemetery? Mr R G Stokes how about it? It is all about pedestrian safety especially saving young lives. Our Mona Vale. We even tried to have the old bridge transplanted to Mona Vale but the RMS said no. Mona Vale Road Action Now. I have no problem with points and fines for breaking the law! What I do find unjust is a double system of points for a public holiday! A system should be x amount of points no matter what date it is! You don't see murders getting double life sentence for killing on a public holiday! Stick to one fine for all occasions!
04/22/2017 at 04:52
It appears that commonsense went out the window some time ago. There needs to be a greater deterrent to change driver attitude, than what's in place now. Double de merit points should be in place during public and school holidays in ALL Australian states.

I have no probs with double demerits - if it means that on person is not killed or maimed on a long weekend it is worth it. I will push my barrow now that every person should have to complete a rules test similar to that for L plates when renewing their licence. I also like the Scandinavian model where fines are proportional - perhaps based on the value of the car with the current level as a minimum.

I made one only a few years ago. Sick of school kids breaking off car aerials in school holidays. It worked just as well as the real thing with the old coat hanger
04/21/2017 at 22:31
o.O Yep, sorry to say I made one :/ Because some pricks use to think it was fun to break aerials off in hotel car parks >:(

Imagine the carnage in the air with drunken flyers. The average driver can't follow simple road rules or reverse park without having trouble. Flying and landing in a crowded air space? I don't think so.

Most of these couldn't be driven on the roads so the term Flying "car" is a bit off the mark. VTOL might be a closer description.

It should be "keep to the far left lane", not just "you must not use the right lane". So many people just float down the road 10, 20, 30kms under the limit in the centre lane of the M1.
04/20/2017 at 22:37
This problem is quite simple, police need to police this out everyday without fail and then after hundreds get booked on a daily basis people might get it through their thick heads, its basically useless complaining here as nothing will get done! A lot of people these days are completely ignorant when it comes to the road rules and travel in a bubble in their own little world!
04/21/2017 at 03:09
It is ALWAYS a problem. Every single day in the m5, there is at least one hapless idiot hogging the right lane. And then you watch the ones that get onto the m5, empty lanes everywhere, and they purposefully merge all the way in to the right hand lane- for no reason whatsoever !!!

The NRMA. You probably need to retract the statement that only teachers are going back on Monday as some schools have their students go back that day too.
04/20/2017 at 10:53
No doubt the 40km/h school zones will be active on Monday 24th even though school doesn't resume until Wednesday 26th.

There is a lot of confusion about whether one can change lanes in roundabouts
It used to be illegal but I read somewhere that it is not illegal under the National Road Rules
It is certainly dangerous and it now means a car cannot enter a roundabout in the left lane if there is a risk that a car in the right lane will change lanes at the same time with a resulting collision
04/19/2017 at 20:13
Giving way at roundabouts. Stress there is no rule requiring a driver to give way to vehicles approaching from their right.

D.. There's an emergency vehicle coming from the left. A is on their phone, B has too loud music playing and C is a P plater who thinks they owns the road... But seriously B C then A

Our friends over at NRMA Insurance explain how they view dashcam footage.
How dash-cam footage can help with your car insurance claim

Dash cam in the car and helmet cam on the motorbike. These days, wouldn't go anywhere without it.
Next step is to install a 360 cam operating 24/7 and start saving recording when an event happens (car is parked, I'm away, get hit, recorded and saved)
04/18/2017 at 09:35
Yah but when a car hit me in a Train car park with camera's they would not release the footage, even though there were 2 in the area.
So unless you are injured or your car is a rite off no use.
So thank you Transport nsw .
04/19/2017 at 00:48
Yes. Mine ended up going to court and it was the dash cam footage that saved the day from one of the other drivers out right lying.

NRMA increased my car insurance 20%Premium since last year which I has been do nothing same drive same low kilometre for the year the company answer me they want good cover for all the claims
04/18/2017 at 06:22
I don't think this is a good solution to solve the problem of drivers using their phone on the road. If the drivers want to text or make a call then he/she can stop the vehicle somewhere (may be a side street). It means there is no need the 'texting bay'. I just wonder will drivers really use the texting bay.
04/18/2017 at 07:47
Wow this is really bad thinking. If people were willing to stop to text they would be doing that already and there wouldn't be a reason to trial texting bays.

Thing is, when you see a car parked like this, you don't know if it wasn't a chain reaction from an earlier 'bad' parker who has since left. You could be victimising, 'shaming', inconveniencing someone who was not at fault. Or worse, someone disabled who was not able to get a designated disabled spot. Tolerance and patience cost nothing and nastiness is unnecessary.

WEEKY POLL: What’s traffic like in your area during school holidays?
a) More vehicles on the road
b) There's less traffic than usual
c) No change at all

A & B. High volume of traffic heading north at the start of school holidays. Then 24 hours later there's very much reduced traffic volume (heaven !!!). On the last day of school holidays, high volume of traffic heading south for at least 36 hours. I generally stay "local" during peak traffic periods when "weekend warriors" prowl the roads creating havoc.
Michael L Carrigg
04/18/2017 at 07:25
Easter not exactly the right time to ask this question. Outside of Easter there's usually MORE traffic when school holidays start, then it settles down and there's LESS traffic till the end of school holidays then it gets worse till school returns.
04/18/2017 at 03:27
A. and the people driving seem to have no idea how to drive - they're either going 20 km over or 20 km under, almost collected 2 drivers this morning - not a merge lane yet they came across in front of me in a 100km stretch doing between 60-80??
How slow is too slow?
Ask NRMA: Is driving beneath the speed limit illegal?

04/17/2017 at 05:37
So... Your article didnt say how slow is too slow, beyond "20km/h in an 80km/h zone". Do you thinknthat 30km/h is reasonable then? I personally think that 15km or more under the posted speed limit should be illegal unless there is a valid reason such as bends, intersections, kangaroos, pedestrians etc.
All too often I'm stuck behind someone doing 80 in a 100 zone on a straight road with good visibility and no reason.
Travelling around when it is double demerits produces the worst roadblocks everywhere. They encourage dangerous overtaking by frustrated drivers.
DD is a pathetic campaign causing drivers to become speedo zombies and causing accidents.
Time that brain dead Centre for Road Safety was shut down for encouraging more road deaths.
Had two drivers yesterday on the Bells line of road doing 60 when the limit was 80. They also kept braking on every turn slowing to 40 when completing the turn. So frustrating to maintain momentum on a windy hill road.

Yield to other drivers when travelling under the limit
Pull over when you are lost or need to check directions. Do not drive 10 so you don't go past your turn.
You do not need to drive with your headlights on during the day
If you can not reverse it, you are not qualified to tow it
04/17/2017 at 04:04
Buy a softcore suv thingy that is underpowered but has a 3t rating and buy a caravan at 2900kgs
Keep right unless overtaking
Have a uhf sticker so people can tell you how poo your driving is
Once all this is done make sure the generator has plenty of fuel so other campers can see your site at 1130 every night!!!
04/17/2017 at 06:11
Only 1 step.
Driving nothing bigger than a Corolla towing nothing bigger than a small box trailer for majority of your driving time. Then upon retirement splash out on the Landcruiser/Patrol etc (way bigger and unwieldy than anything you've ever driven), massive van about .5kg under the vehicle towing limit, then go straight out and cause chaos.

Yes I grew up m in Moruya so still go there a lot. In Summer I travel via Hume Highway, Goulburn, Braidwood Road then Kings Highway. I only travel via Princess Highway in winter, or will again once the Berry bypass is done. I used to go via Picton road but they wrecked it with the slow speed. Why do 80 when I can do 110 on Hume.
