Placenta research is an area that Tommy's have been focusing on more and more since the opening of our Placenta Clinic in Manchester. At the moment, there is almost no research on how to help women whose babies have experienced early fetal growth restriction (eFGR). Going through an eFGR pregnancy can be very upsetting, and at the moment it is unclear how best to help the baby survive. We want to change this. Miranda suffered an early miscarriage and then went on to lose her daughter at 16 weeks. After visiting Tommy's Professor Siobhan Quenby, it was discovered that Miranda has Hughes Syndrome, sometimes known as 'sticky blood'.
